The 2001 Cruiser 22 I bought on October 1st has finally arrived in Alaska.
I went to Seward yesterday to pick it up for transport to Girdwood. Tucked safely under my deck for the winter and rarin' to go in the spring...
No major malfuntions on the overland trip, mostly getting used to how the load feels behind the Toyota. Shoehorning it under the deck and manuvering the snow packed driveway was mostly OK . No damage done.

Congratulations Peter! When you splash her in the spring, be sure that you rename her properly using the special ceremony for that purpose! It will require you to save a tiny bit of your winter "antifreeze" for that purpose but will be worth it! Lots of winter darkness to dream about the summer!! Laughing Laughing

I like the term anti-freeze. I always used "medicine". Anti-freeze is a much better term for fishing in cold weather.

Peter ,
Has your new to you boat been propperly winterized?
Is is going to stay dry where it is stored and are the motors down so that any remaining h2o has drained out of the lower unit and pump?
Glad that you finally got it here. I wonder how many C-Dorys there are here in Alaska now.
You will enjoy it they are a real good boat for Alaska.

Regards, Doug Cruickshank

Thanks for the kind words. The honda 40's were flushed w/ fresh water before leaving Whidbey Island and well drained, transported vertically on the barge.
I am hoping to get a book for the motors so I can proceed with the oil change( engine and drive) and carburetor draining. I have been reading lots of advice on this site re: winterization so will be all over taking care of business.
If I can figure out how to post photos I can send along a shot or two of the boat under the deck.( Totally covered w/roof built on deck's underside). Dry is a relative term in Girdwood. but there will be a tarp rigged over the boat under the roofing already there. Another tarp already keeps blowing snow and rain from the back deck as a 10 foot end wall.
Any hot tips out there re: Honda 40 (2002) manuals?

Send a PM to Tyboo Mike and request a photo album.
http://www.c-brats.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=4
Your boat's name will turn blue Click on it to open your album. Then just follow the directions for loading pictures.

peterzug,

glad to hear that you got your "new to you" C-Dory home. That is always an exciting day. Take good care of it and enjoy it in the spring. Didn't you contact me about towing it up for you??
I can tow a boat to Alaska from the NW this coming April for the price of my fuel.

Congratulations, probable see you at the ramp in Whittier if that’s where you plan on boating. I am envious, Whittier is right down the road from Girdwood.

We made it out 1st week in April last year, ran into ice halfway through Culross passage. Spent the night in Ziegler Cove off Pigot Bay, next morning had 2” of snow on the deck. The ramp was ice free so didn’t have to chain up, don’t have chains any ways.

PWS will offer you years of endless adventure.

Shrimp season opens April 15th; a freezer full of shrimp is a good thing.

It's worth it to have the full shop manual too. We had two Honda 45's on our '95 22 cruiser and I used it many times. That's not free but very useful. The "Clymers" or equivalent may help and be less expensive but it's not detailed enough for me.
