Not very long ago I had my hearing tested and they recommended a:
Hearing Aid $ 3,100.00
Earlier I had priced a 9.9 HP Honda kicker:
Kicker $ 2,910.00
The dilemma, what to do? So I can hear all I need but my C-Dory 22 Cruiser does not respond well to the ore.
The installation along side the Honda 75 was a piece of cake. I wanted to post a photo showing the application and a steering link with no success.

Bill-
Send me the photo in an email, and I'll post it for you. Click on the email link at the bottom of this post.
Just don't try to tell me on the telephone, though, 'cause it need one too! (The hearing aid, not the kicker!}
I already have the kicker! My wife kicks me every time I buy something new for the boat!

I wear hearing aids, now increased to "boomers" aka BTE, behind the ears. I am dependent on them.
Go to Costco and get one not quite as fancy for about $1,200-1,500, still a quality instrument.
By a used kicker.
Enjoy the best of both worlds. Happy to share details if that helps _________________ Soon to join C-Dory owners |

Bill,
If you're in the market for a hearing aid I strongly urge you to check out AmericaHears.com I've worn a variety of hearing aids for over twenty years, and three years I ran across America Hears. I'm very happy with their product(s). They are all digital, and AH also provides customers with the software, connector cables, and mixer box so you can adjust your own digital aid(s)! Really pretty cool! AH aid's tend to run about in the $1K/ea price range.
As for the Honda 9.9, check out http://www.boats.net/outboard_motor/Honda/9.9HP/parts.html . Their Honda 9.9 short shaft is $2568. You might also want to consider something other than a Honda (ie. Tohatsu or Nissan).
onlineoutboard.com sells the Tohatsu 9.9 for $1759.
Just some thoughts.
Best,
