Just purchased a Promariner dual bank 8 amp charger. The outlet wiring is only 5 or so feet long. I need at least 12 to 15 feet to reach my batteries from inside the cabin. Should I purchase two Promariner extensions for around $60.00 or should I cut, solder and shrink sleeve my own extensions. The manual recommends getting their extensions. Unfortunately their extensions are either 5 ft or 15 ft, 10ft would work best for my mounting location. Please advise.

Mine is mounted underneath the lazarette and above the gas tank. The wires run to the battery switch and terminate there. No need to change the length of any of the wires. _________________ Jody Kidd

Jody;
I set up my shore power system similar to Jenny-B, with a GFCI box in the cabin of the 22' Angler. Thus I either need to lengthen the charger plug cord if I mount the charger in the location you suggest or the two outlet cords, if I mount the charger next to the GFCI box. My preference is the latter.
I guess I also need to apologize for posting this in the wrong forum, it should be moved to electrical and wiring.

I also ran mine through GFCI in the cabin and mounted it under the sink. I put out the money and used their wire extensions. I still need to tie wrap it all in but all in all turned out like I hoped. and it certainly charged both batteries. |
