buying a 22 foot angler

Aloha All:
I am new here and am thinking about buying a 22 angler.
How do they ride in the open ocean. I live in Hawaii, Kauai and wonder how they ride in open ocean?

The handle the seas well, but are not speed boats. You will not break any speed records with one that is for sure and if you have really far to go to the fishing grounds and little time to do it, the CD 22 probably isn't the best choice.

But they do handle the seas. I take mine out into the open Gulf of Alaska when it is nice (6ft seas or less) where my CD 22 is often the smallest boat I see out there. But, with that said, it is very capable and a nice neutral handling boat. As far as the ride, flat bottom boats (CD 22) that plane normally ride poorly at high speed in chop or steep waves. However, if you slow down the ride is just fine in my opinion.

Like most folks in here, I love my CD 22 and will not part with it unless something really, really good comes along that I can afford (tomcat anyone???). They are very seaworthy, have good quality, good design, and are very economical when compared to other boats of a like size.

Maybe some bratt down where you live will offer you a ride. That way, you could find out everything for yourself.
