Does anyone know if the foot pump for the interior fresh water tank is re-buildable? Ours has worked fine on our 1995 22' since we purchased her in 2007. When we used the boat last week, the foot pump would not seem to hold the prime I guess. It seems as though the back check valve is not holding water in the line between pumps and so it requires us to make short pumps quickly to get any flow. Does anyone know the manufacturer of the pumps? I have not removed it yet and cannot read any names where it is mounted.

Thanks...Tad

I never liked mine on the 22, it was too hard to get all the water out at the end of the season. I used to siphon it over the side. If I had one and it went Thumbs Down I think I'd replace it with a simple demand electric pump. No switches, just open the faucet and it comes on. They are pretty common and simple to install.

The FLOJET pump on Amazon.com looks pretty good to me.

I replaced ours with the Jabsco electric galley pump big improvement
the only hiccup was the water line sizing the old foot pump was a larger size
half inch I think.

Here's my 2 cents. Sounds like everyone likes the electric so far but personally I would stick with the manual (get water with both the downward and upward stroke of the foot pump). Ours is a 1991 and still works great. When it finally goes out we will replace it with something similier. The manual is simple and less to go wrong. "Keeping it simple". I looked for the manufacturer but couldn't find it but I'm sure I have seen it in catalogs. Just my 2 cents.

And, if you want to stay with your pump, and it is a "Whale", you can buy one from one of these folks:

» West Marine (United States)
» Defender (United States)
» Boat U.S (United States)
» BoatingStore.Com (United States)
» Lewis Marine Supply (FL)
» Boat Owners Warehouse (FL)
» Byfield Marine Supply, Inc. (FL)
» DS Hull (FL)
» El Capitan (FL)
» Glenn-Mar Marine Supply, Inc. (FL)

I think they have repair kits too.

Thanks for all the quick replies. Being of the School of "Keep it Simple Stupid" I think that the manual foot pump is what we want to stay with at this time. Ours certainly resembles the Whale Babyfoot Pump that Rob linked me to. That catalogue page indicates that a Service Kit is available containing a diaphragm, valves, O-rings, spring and screws and Charlie's link to the stores that carry the pump indicate I can get or order it from West Marine. I'll pull the pump out this weekend and make sure that the rubber is in good shape before I order just the kit. That's the Ticket! I'll post the price for the kit and the pump after I have contacted WM.

Thanks...Again!
