|
|
Hello everyone.
I have Honda BF150 outboards on the TomCat, and I am wondering what my electronic monitoring options are. Currently I have gauges for RPM and trim, but no fuel flow monitoring. I'd like to get as much data as I can on an electronic display, something like Bad Boy has here with the Mercury Vessel View Display.
Does Honda have something like this? Or can I use NMEA0183 or N2K (preferred) sensors to accomplish the same thing with one of the many electronic displays out there?

It looks like only very few of the Honda engines are NMEA 2000 compatible, and the 150 isn't one of them.

They do have a digital fuel flow / speedo gauges that will work with 2005 and newer 150's, but it look slike you need one per engine.
There isn't going to be a gauge like the Mercury Smartcraft for Honda. Maretron is probably the biggest manufacturer for NMEA 2000 equipment, sensors and the like, and I don't see anything of their's for Honda.

Mike, one of your photos shows a big Raymarine Display, an E120 perhaps? Read your book, I think one of those pages can be set up to display engine stuff, not sure what the interface is though. Do a little research...

I don't think you can get engine data from the Hondas to a NMEA 2000 bus (and to the raymarine display). Searching Maratron's knowledge base page brings up no hits for "Honda"- although their search engine isn't any better than the one on the C-Brat site (no offense intended). |

Mike,
If you have electronic Tachs and Speedo, you will have fuel flow, mileage, trip and fuel used readouts on the speedo head. The tachs show the state of trim and RPM. As I recall, they were about an $800 option in 2006.

Roger these are his tachs from his album. Looks like the wrong ones.
Can he replace them with the electronic ones? Not sure if all the wiring is there or not.

Charlie, Mike,
The Honda harnesses seem to be set up for any possibility. The manuals for the electronic gauges outline the electrical hook up combining the info from both engines for the total fuel flow. The mileage readout is not very good since it uses the pitot pressure port on the engine. Easy to do the math though when you're using 11 gallons per hour and running 22 kts per the GPS. |

Matt, it looks like you are right. Looks like my only option is the Honda Electronic gauges. I'll look into those. Thanks.

Hi Charlie.
That's a barely used c-70 (maybe 20 hours on it), and I'm pulling it soon.

I am hoping all the wiring is already there. It would make sense to use the same harnesses for all installs.

Ok, I found the Honda electronic gauges (06373-ZY3-800 and 06375-ZY3-800), but they are definitely ugly and expensive. And as Matt pointed out, I'll need 2 of each. Yuck!
The only positive thing here (besides getting fuel flow) is that I'll recover some of the space on my helm by consolidating gauges.
There really are no other options to these gauges?

Mike,
You'll need only one speedo and two tachs. Still expensive! |

True, but since it is a multifunction meter, I think it makes sense to have two. I am hoping to eliminate all the analog meters I have now. Maybe that is not practical?

Hmmm. Anyone know anything about these? They say they are Honda compatible.

Kind of in line with this thread............
I have a 2002 200hp Honda.
There is a gauge on the dash that is a Honda pressure gauge to 50 psi. When at cruise, 4000 rpm's, it is pegged out over 50 psi.
What is the gauge monitoring??? Pressure of what??? _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.
