Talked to the new Cathlamet Harbormaster today. We're on the books for the weekend of April 1st. Comments?

I have never been to this harbor before . What is it like and what does it have to offer. What should i expect to see and do there?? We are just starting to figure out what gatherings we can make this year. we hope to make most of them in the washington north oregon area. is there a web site for this harbor?

Cathlamet is the 2nd oldest township in the state of Washington. Located 20 miles west of Longview on the Columbia River. County Seat of Wakiakum County, poplulation 3500 (for the whole county). Primary source of income, fishing and logging.

Fine Dining - We have a resturant up town, and I hear they are going to be operating a hot dog concession stand in the parking lot at the harbor this year.
Shopping - There's a mega mall out on the highway, consists of a Shell station, Plaid Pantry, liqour store and video rental.
Nostalgia - There's a museum one block from the harbor.
Entertainment - Once a year in the early spring the town is invaded by a group of C-brats. It's a social gathering for some, but there is an underlying purpose for most... the pursuit of the wily Columbia River Spring Salmon. There will be salmon on the BBQ, stories told of the day's battle with the scaley nomads. Much fun will be had. Saturday night will be potluck!

helen o thanks for th e reply and info ,but I was wandering if they have a launch or sling? showers and rest rooms, power , place to park the rigg over night? can we cook on the dock? you know all the little things that make boating fun.

Good questions, the harbor has a boat launch, showers, restrooms, parking, RV parking with hookups (probably want to call in early and reserve them though), concession stand, power to the docks and we've got the covered eating area reserved for the weekend. The covered area has a bbq and 7 picnic tables.

Note: they just opened up another resturant just 2 blocks from the harbor.

Yep, Jim Mast just retired from the harbor a few months ago. He's doing well, still drives the school bus for the kids. One of these years you're going to have to come back and see your ol buddies here.

A new rub for Daydream...on April 1, will she be the "old" 22' or the new 25'? Only time will tell, one thing for sure, I'll be there, with or without a boat!
