as long as ya rember to stick the drain plug in, it should float like a bird. So this will be the maiden voyage for the boat? I would think a 16 footer would fall in the same catagory as jello....always room
it's getting close, should be a fun, wet time. I just got back from buzzing around the river and didn't see to much prop busting debris floating about. _________________ Ken

I just got back from the harbor, talked with Jackie (Harbormaster). Our case of Stone Wolf wine has arrived and is resting comfortably.
Some guy launched his $65k Boulton sled and forgot to put in the drain plug. It sank in the harbor. _________________ Larry S

I'm not positive yet but the wife and I might try to make it down that way this weekend with the North River Sled in tow. I've never fished this area so it will be an adventure for sure. Plus I don't have the anchor system most people use out there as I have always just used a normal river anchor on the rivers I fish.
Hope to meet some of you this weekend! _________________ Gary Johnson

I'm not sure if I should post this here or in the ideas less than 20$ thread but here seems about right after the Boulton sinking.
I secure the Lynn Marie to the trailer with a transom strap that goes from side to side just in front of the motor well. On the cam lock hardware that keeps the strap tight I have a big snap hook mounted and to that I ALWAYS snap the handle of the transom drain plug. Before I remove the strap I install the plug and when the boat comes out of the water and the strap goes back on so does the snap return to it's proper spot on the strap. A cheep reminder for an older mind.

I got called into work about midnight last night, so I took today off. I have tomorrow off to handle some business, and so I figured I might as well take a shot at getting Friday off. It worked. So now the plan is to leave Warrenton by water early Friday morning. Them kids are plenty smart enough to miss one day of school. There is a mighty slim chance that the girls will talk me into leaving Thursday evening, but the weather and water will have to be very good for that to happen. Anyhow, we hope to be there Friday morning at the latest.
I bought one of those $80 inflatables at Costco this evening, pumped it up and lashed it to the top of the boat. The kids are looking forward to using that in the marina.
I'm thinking we won't even bring any fishing gear with us. It is enough of a chore to get both kids and both dogs ready at the same time to do anything, and it will be a lot less stressful on the whole famdamly if we don't try to do anything organized and requiring patience. We'll probably just take a little cruise on Saturday to show the kids where I work from the water side, and maybe do a little other sightseeing. Beyond that, we'll be dock hosts or something.
Kay called the marina the other day, and Jackie said there would be some side tieing and power sharing involved. If any of you have a 30amp "Y" splitter to plug in at the dock, it might be useful. Otherwise, we can plug in our 30a and someone beside us can use the GFI outlet in our cockpit to tap into 15a power.
We are not at all opposed to rafting, because we have yet to meet a CBer we couldn't get along with. A word of caution, though. The traffic in and out of our boat goes at a dizzying pace, so if we end up with someone between us and the dock, I hope they like medium sized kids and small dogs. Plus one full grown grandpa guy with slightly thinning hair that sometimes needs to quickly get away from the aforementioned.
I have yet to meet the new harbormaster, but she seems like a very nice lady who is doing all she can to make things easy for us. I suggest offering the first bottle out of the Stone Wolf case to Jackie with our thanks.
This is going to be a great weekend! We had to miss it last year, so we are especially looking forward to it. See ya there. |

Mar-T's Mike
No pics. I don't know what they did with the Boulton. See ya tomorrow.
Tyboo Mike
You've already reserved a seat onboard the Helen O for this weekends fish. Fishing gear is supplied.
The dock has 110v and 30 amp outlets. I think they have spare plugs in the office. If anyone has "Y" splitter, please bring them just in case.
You're right on about Jackie. It's amazing how she seems to keep everybody happy. |

Looks like we're going to boater drop outs this gathering. I've been trying to get rid of a lousy cold the last week and somehow Judy is not to excited about having to listen to me both snore and cough all night while confined in a small cabin. Can't say that I blame her one bit as I get real tired of the thing after about two days myself and she's also probably right about staying out of the wind and rain as much as I can. That being said we do think we will drive up for the day to say hello to everyone and check on the cool projects people have been working on like B~C's interior. Also want to see how the springer fishing expedition is going and if Larry and company have left any fish for the gillnetters.
See you all on the dock sometime Saturday,
Tim |

The C-Dragon Plus is layed up at Rocky Point Boat Yard, so we'll have to scratch this year. Good luck and stay dry.
