Some put the speakers thru the electronics shelf over the foreward cabin. I have used small box speakers in both the front and back corners of the cabin--at the top. Now as for subwoofers? no suggestions! _________________ Bob Austin

Works for us.

I had speakers mounted in the electronics shelf. I could never get my Azimuth Flux Gate compass to read accurately. After replacing the speakers with enclosures in the far corners of the helm area, the compass is fairly close. I have noticed it is mounted directly over the metal curtain track for the bunk curtain. Next project! _________________ Roger

Speakers for what? VHF? Stereo? Both?
If it's for the VHF, put it someplace near your best ear! No matter what it's for, keep it/them as far from a magnetic compass as you can. Otherwise, you'll always be going the same direction!!

I've located my front speakers under each side of the shelf above the helm; I guess they call this the electronics shelf. See pictures in my album. I used the same location for the VHF and Stereo. In the rear cockpit area I mounted the speakers under and inside of the port and starboard storage indents, pointing down. You can’t really see them, but they sound OK and it keeps them out of the weather.

I mounted mine along the window seam - one on each side. I used window frame screws to hold speaker bracket. They are out of the way and do not affect visibility. _________________ Captain Matt

Thanks for the help all, I located the stereo speakers in the seat bases and am quite happy with the results, The seat bases act as a speaker box and help give a nice full sound, also the speakers are down low so as not to blare in your face. |
