Chimo is a 23 Venture with twin Yamaha 60's so you can picture the set up. We just bought the West Marine 260 inflateable and will probably just keep it in the bag in the cockpit when we need to take it with us. I haven't tried it on the roof as yet (low radar arch).
My question is where to put a mount for the 3.3 Mercury 2-stroke that will 'power' this little addition. Anyone got any good ideas?

I had the same problem until I stole a very well executed idea created by Peter on C-Dancer. I have a series of pics in our album on page 5, down toward the bottom showing how the mount is added and works. I'm not sure if this will adapt to your Venture, but perhaps you could add your twist to make it work for you.
Hope this helps,
Nick

Thanks for the suggestion. There's no rail with a Venture so I will have to think about it. The mind, howver, is well stimulated. |

Nick,
Thanks for continuing to give me credit. There are actually times when I can come up with a good idea now and again.
I still miss that mount to this day since I took the transom bar off, replaced by the cooler rack. With so little space, it's so hard to utilize all the great ideas that come from this site.
Chimoli and others, look at my photo albums to see the parts I purchased for the project. It's tailor-made for a CD-22 with a transom bar.

On the Tom Cat we mount the dinghy motor on the cockpit rail. On the C Dory25, we had a kicker mount (variable height) and kept the dinghy motor on that. Used a Garhauer davit to move the engine from the bracket to the dinghy. Don't know if you have room for the bracket or not
We carry our un-inflated (as well as inflated) dinghy on the cabin house--it is in the way in the cockpit. _________________ Bob Austin

Peter,
You're welcome, but the next time this comes up, I'm going to poach the idea and claim it as mine!!
Just kidding, sort of.

I have a very simple mount on C-Cakes for our 2hp Honda, basically a piece of wood, two eyebolts and no holes drilled in the boat. I'll take pix tomorrow and post them. Cost less than $5 and has held the motor very securely. _________________ Patti and Barry

Ours is mounted under the radar arch. Imagine a small clamping block mount like Valkyrie minus the pole, mounted upside down under one side of the radar arch against the down turning tubes. It is braced by also clamping through one of the front-to-back horizontals between the two main arch tubes. If you look closely, you can see it in a couple of our album pics. I will take a better pic this weekend of the prototype we have using for the last three months. Our dinghy is on the roof next to the motor. This may seem a bit odd but we do have an electric outboard with no fuel to drip. _________________ Greg, Cindie & Aven
