A while back, I posted a photo of this boat that has been in storage for at least as long as we have owned our boat. This is NOT our boat. I did some checking, and the owner is interested in selling.

The boat is a 1989 C-Dory 22 Cruiser. It has been sitting unused for at least 4 years, maybe longer. It has a Johnson 70 hp 2-stroke that appears quite rusty, and a Johnson 15 kicker, similar condition. The hull is quite dirty, maybe mold or mildew. No idea of the condition of the interior. The EZ Loader trailer is not in road worthy condition - the tires are flat, probably rotted; the front jack is non-functional; no idea if the hubs/lugs/springs are rusted solid.

There is some fishing equipment (downriggers, etc) that is included, no idea what condition. There are solar panels on the roof, no idea if they are functional.

When I spoke with the owner today, he said everything was working when the boat was last used. He felt the boat would "clean up" well... frankly, it looks like a definite project boat to me. The Texas sun here in the Tropical Tip can be brutal... I wax our boat about 3 times a year, and it needs it. This boat has not had that kind of care.

BUT, if someone is looking for a low price entry into the C-Dory world, AND is willing to put in a LOT of effort, probably re-power, and willing to do a lot of trailer work in the lot or bring a flatbed... well, this may be what you're looking for. The owner told me he would take $9,000 for the boat/trailer, AS IS.

Not my boat, no affiliation with the owner; today is the first time I've talked with him. If there is a problem with this post because it isn't my boat, feel free to yank this post. I've seen this boat when I come and go from storage, and it would be nice if it could find a home where it will get the care it needs and get used.

Jim,
THAT is SICK - I'd almost rate that image as pornographic (someone said you'd pornography if you saw it) shame on you ! I know of a guy up in Ioway that has helped a couple of other neglected C-Dorys, AND he might be about ready for a trip south.

Mentioned this one to my wife and she reminded me that I have a Kittiwake 23 project on the hard in Solomons Island Maryland -- bummer!

That was about how my '94 cruiser looked when I bought it in 2002. Had sat for about 5 years. Took some doing but I brought it back to life and used it for 5 more years before I got the TC255. That's a pretty good buy.

Congrats. Nice to know that the boat is going to a home where it will get the care it deserves. I hope you'll post photos of the progress and results.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Not bad, sold in 24 hours. Even in that shape it looked like a good deal for someone with some time.

Jim, you are doing pretty good at getting folks and boats together. Good for both.

It was bad, sat nose down for years with water in the cabin. Don't think I can salvage the interior. Will be running the Ohio river from Pittsburgh, PA to Mobile, AL this spring on the little houseboat that I had at the Brat gathering on Powell. No way I can have this boat ready by then.
Might have her seaworthy for Powell in Sept 2010.

Tex,

Dixie is glad this is your project. She was concerned that I was interested in this boat. We are in Rockport for the winter, and have a flats boat for a project boat here. Hope to see you and Sharon at Lake Powell in the fall w/the restored CD22.
Say hi to Sharon for us. Sorry we didn't stop by last fall on our way to the Coastal Bend.

Thanks for saving me from this project. I was tempted, but was holding back for some reason. Let me know if you need any help when you come down.
