First. I want to take no credit for bringing the cold weather to Florida on my visit here. It will be colder here in the morning than it will be in Seattle!

Has anyone in these parts (south Florida) ever fished the Tamiami Trial for snook on the west side, or bass etc on the east side? I may drive out that way tomorrow and try it, but would like some local information if I can. I talked to the fly shop in town and they said it may be good.

My flight home was delayed three days, so I am looking for some fishing spots. I know it is a long shot, but just in case someone has some information, thanks.

Robbi

Hey Robbi, sorry 'bout your flight. I haven't fished that area, but if your on the web, check out the Florida Sportsman site. They usually have some good info and links. There's some good bass fishing spots along alligator alley in the canals, and you don't need a boat.
Good luck and safe trip.

Thanks Bob, I will check it out. I was hoping to get into some more Peacock Bass, but this cold is probably going to kill some off.

Robbi,
Go straight out I-75..Alligator Ally and there are lots of recreation rest area type of access where you can fish off the bank. Freshwater fishing lic. required. Remember to take your electric socks and Long John's.

Welcome to South Florida.

The picture below is for those who would say..."it never frost this far south"....NOT

I went out of Fort Lauderdale on 75 and then south on 29 to 41. I did not catch any fish, but I sure saw a bunch of dead fish. The cold got to them in a hurry I guess.
It was a beautiful day. Lots of Orange Bowl tourists (Iowa) on the road. Birds galore. It was cool to see the swallows that return to Western Washington in the spring flying around.

Thanks for all the good advice. I had a good time.

Mike,

I can't imagine living somewhere that you actually have to deal with frost on the windshield one day a year. Must be rough! Will be routing for you that you can endure the hardship. Tux

Coldest winter in a decade. Upper valley may get into the 20s. We predict 41 here on the bay. Still no frost on any windshields here...grins.

Well boys, I am ready to admit defeat. I have pulled up the Nassau, Bahamas weather and have decided that it is time to study the charts closer. I won't be able to take advanage of it this year, but I will be well prepared for next year and the years to come. I refuse to live anywhere that required equipment includes snow shovels or ice scrapers or studded tires and chains or where marine antifreeze is on the shopping list.

Who'da thunk we needed to leave heat on in the house when we left? We've been home less than one month in the past 6 months, but should be back in a couple weeks. Could you arrange to have this cold crap moved out by then?

I appreciate your help in this matter.

Best wishes,
Jim
