We watched "Deliverance" last night and thought about going "so far upriver you can hear the banjos"...actually it must be a somewhat creepy feeling when you pass the guy on the porch with the still and the shotgun! Anyway, more pix please, those of us without boats have to live vicariously at the moment!

Gave a CD full of our pics to Pat Byrd, and sadly, he's got some computer problems. I'm sure he'll want to post photos of his great event when he's up and running -- in the meantime, so all can share some of the Gathering, we have uploaded a tale and pictures on our website:
www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/tenngath05.htm
We'll have more tales from Tenn/Kentucky/Mississippi/Alabama when we have rainy day writing time. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

Thanks guys for your help... got a load of new software to include the newest virues stuff....and only found just over 200 infected items on my hardive and files.... so, after hours....and close to 2 hours on the phone with the ENGLISH SPEAKING rep from Earthlink... I think I am getting close to my normal operations here.... will look around a bit for the new postings... thanks to all for your help and input thru this "ruff water" period. Byrdman |

Fishtales: A million thanks for getting the post up... I have added comments and put in chronological orders as best I could recall... Can't wait for others to post... their pictures... I know for a fact that George and Penny (still out on the river...) have several shots... I left my camera at home...and think I now have all my internet and email issues resolved about many an hour on the CPU today.... not fun... but a neccesary evil every now and then... I truly appreciate your help and you make C-Dory ownership and this site special. Go have a beverage of your choice.

-oh you said "a beverage" not "some beverage"
Talked with Joel (Sea3po) on Saturday- he was in Biloxy, Miss. Taking day trips out from there. When we talked he was swinging on the hook at some island about 10 miles out. Will be heading over to Galvaston this week. _________________ Roger

It was great to have Joel and Susan on the gathering... Great folks...and I love the attitude of Joe's shirt. I could not wait to get up in the mornings...look out across the lake and boats...and see what brightness Joel was bringing to our world each day... He has a very neat LP system set up on his boat too for heating and cooking... Folks without anything may truly want to take a look at his rig.. A lot of safety built in, particuarly with the placement of storage bottle and lines.. and when it is on...it is on...and when you turn it off...it stops putting out heat right a way... something that is for sure a benefit in the hotter areas for folks who cook up coffee and meals on board. His little mini-trawler lamp is special too. Going to have to rig one of those using the bottom screw/nut from the roof rails to hand the little loop, and simply loop a light weight bungee around the sink spicket to keep her stable while under way. I liked his ability to have some type of natural light at night that required zero batteries. I have been using those candles in a jar...but again, they take up counter space... instead of up overhead out of the way....and the lantern can be used when the dinette bed is deployed too. In fact, I often use this bunk...and may put a hook on the port side, all 3 places as to allow me to move the lantern from aft for reading while in the bunk with your feet towards forward, the middle while eating or playing cards at the table, or forward, as to allow light closer to the front of the boat bunk and todd table I have forward of the dinette bench and between the main bunk. Great set up that pictures do not do justice to... IMHO.. Grin.
And, my Mossberg 12GA with pistol grip makes for a fine "instrument" to take care of snakes on the river banks...and any bango players with less than admirable intentions... |

I have just posted a Web site with some photos of the Nashville Gathering. As time permits, I will add a Cumberland River and Tennessee River section.
Altogether we travelled about 1200 NM and spent 35 nights aboard Wanderer. It was a great trip.

The first of several installments depicting our time on the Tennessee River this spring were just posted.
This is a great cruising area. Take a look.
