Has anyone here tried Polyglow on their boat? I've heard glowing testamonials from motorhome users, but not a word from boat owners. _________________ Mary & Don Anderson

I looked at their web sit and could not determine if this was an acrylic product or not. My previous boat had an acrylic product TSWR applied to the surface. The product was blistering off when I got the boat. It was a bear of a job to get all the material off the boat surface. The only product that would work was MEK (metholetholketone), nasty stuff. I thought that the EPA was going to stop by the house and fine me the fumes were so bad. If your boat surface is in good condition I would shy away from these products.
If you are considering this, check out this site:

No, Jim and Fred, after a lot of research and a quick email to Poliglow, I'm definitely gonna pass on it. If I still owned my old '76 Luhrs with the tired gel coat I'd probably jump on it even today though. It's strictly a "restoration" product, and not for new boats or those with gel coats in good condition.
I'm now checking out their Acrylic polish product which they claim can be used on new boats. It has geezer appeal in that it's a wipe on, haze dry, wipe off product, but until I get some clear answers from Poliglow it too will be just another idea. TANSTAAFL applies. (Anybody who reads Heinlein knows what that means.) |
