Hey
I need a few items for my newly purchased 1997 22 ft cruiser. Will someone plz refer me to a dealer or the manufacturer for the following:
1) Manual windshield wipers. Do you replace the blades or the whole apparatus?
2) Square screw driver for the screws holding the windows in place.
3) Additionally what type and where to purchase hooks or snaps that can be added for window coverings.
4) The teak storage rack that goes inside the galley cabinet
5) Replacement hinge for raising and lowering the table into seating on a 1997 22 ft drusier
6) Is there a resource for stainless steel L-brackets (replacing those rusty ones that hold all of the cabinetry in place.
I live in NC -----and between the local hardware and West Marine I haven't had any success. Thanks for your help---- Moon Doggie |

(1) The nearest C-Dory dealer for you is Mobil East Marine in Alliance, which is near Oriental. Gene or Carrie Wooster can probably help with the windshield wipers. I would think you only need to replace the blade.
(2) The square screwdriver is a stock item at most hardware stores, I just picked up an extra at my local Ace since I had lost (temporarily) the one I had. I believe it is #2 size.
(3) I also obtained snaps for the window coverings along with the tool to install them at the small Ace Hardware.
That's about all I can help with.

Here's my advice, FOR FREE.
For the manual windshield wiper, canvas snaps (and the installation tool), teak storage racks see Defender Marine Supplies
There aren't any cheap ss L brackets. Those jamestown brackets are $10 ea. I bought a length of SS strap and made my own. <$1 ea.
Just as a side note: you need that square driver because those windows are made in Canada

You can find flat windshield wiper blades at many auto parts stores--such as Auto zone. I have never had to resort to West Marine or Defender for these.
The square screw driver bit is a "Robertson"--most hardware stores will have either just the bits, or specific screw drivers. Lowes makes a combination driver, which has 2 slotted, two phillips, and two Robertsons, plus 3 different nut drivers in one handle.
Any good outdoor upholustry or marine supply will have the snaps and the tool to set the snap. If you are doing many, check with "Sailrite" for both snaps and appropiate tools. In the long run, there are some tools which fit on square jawed vise grips, or purpose built tools.
H & L marine makes racks. I belive that they are still in Carson CA. Again some of the Marine supply houses may also have the racks.
Not sure about the hinge--there are several different ones I have seen in C Dories.
My feeling is that you are much better off by removing the brackets and fiberglassing the wood to the hull: There are some photos in my album. This gets away from the ferrous metal, the core penetration and potential water in the core of the boat. _________________ Bob Austin

I agree with other posters and suggest you just pull the old wiper blades off and take 'em to one of the auto parts houses on Carolina Beach Road.
While over there check out Harbor Freight for some of the other items you need. You can usually find a a little kit for around $5.00 that has slotted, phillips, star and SQUARE headed driver bits. They also carry a "little bit of everything" so you might find your snaps (if not at a local fabric store) and storage racks.

The L brackets used on my 22 were Cad plated, which is what you will normally find at hardware stores. They are very prone to rust.
I can't go the price of the SS ones.
Found some galvanized ones at a industrial type hardware store, not too expensive, should hold up pretty well.
6.79 for 4 including galv. screws
National Hardware (division of Stanley). #V115 N208-736 (made in the USA)
