|

Having just spent another weekend on the boat and cleaning pots and pans using the foot pump, I am considering putting in an electric water pump. What I have in mind is a push button switch to activate the pump, so that water only flows when you are actually pushing the button. That would seem to help conserve water and allow us to use the existing faucet.
Has anyone else done this to a CD22? Any suggestions on what type of pump would be best? I am hoping for a minimally invasive job....I don't want to replace the water lines or the faucet if possible. I am thinking just replace the foot pump with an electric pump, run power and install a switch.
Thanks for any input.

Here is the set-up I've been using for years. Simply remove a short section of the water hose and insert the pump. Mine is spliced in vertically near the bulkhead. The knee switch is located between the cabinet doors. Once you've primed the unit with the manual pump(I have a hand operated Fynspray) it'll stay primed indefinitely if your connections are tight. _________________ Pete

Thanks Pete. How does the knee switch work? Does it pump only as long as your knee (or finger) is on the switch?

Yep. It's a momentary type switch. I stand against the galley and toggle the water on and off with my knee/thigh. I don't understand why the factory doesn't equip the 22s with it. Picture here |
