I'm confused..

After receiving Sea Angel I notice a lot of 'back spray' when at cruise speed and the trim & engines apear to be optimized for max speed for the throttle setting.

Looking at the position of the ventilation plate above the props, it appears to be below the bottom of the hull. With a line 'drawn' straight aft, it is halfway between the 'main ventilation/cavation plate and the lower unit extension smaller 'plate/fin'. I don't don't think my vocabulary is quite correct, but I hope I get idea across.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the engines are too low. Is not the ventilation plate supposed to be 'in-line' with the boat's bottom????

Local rigger says that the HONDAs are by factory spec.?? They will raise them , but if I have to change them back it will cost extra.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

Sea Angel,

The normal mounting height is with the (anti) ventilation plate even with the bottom of the hull. Going up results in less lower unit in the water, less spray, and the boat goes faster. If ventilation(blowout) occurs on sharp turns or in steep waves, then the solution is to move the motors down.

Larry;
Thanks for the advice and suggestion. I instructed the local rigger to change the height of the 90s; i.e., to the 3rd hole of the mounting bracket, verses the 2nd., and the make them as close to equal to the bottom as possible. This should reduce the drag and back spray.

The name went today and the rest of the toys are fallin in place.

Freedom to head out into the Lower Ches. Bay & points North are a weekend away.
