Well my son Justin came over on Friday and got a lot of work done on the transom. He got 99% of the wood out of the cut out section. Now I need to go in and grind the edges smooth and clean out the small amount of wood that is left.

Here is a picture I took while looking through the hole where the out drive goes.

This clearly shows how there is a layer of glass, then plywood, then glass again, then end grain balsa, and finally the outer glass.

I didn't get much done this weekend, just some cleanup work and purchasing of stuff to start putting it back together (OUCH!). I can't believe that I've spent nearly $1100 on wood/epoxy/fiberglass/tools!!

Hopefully, next weekend I can get the wood cut out for the transom and laminate the 2 layers together. Once that is done I'll drill some holes in the transom and wood so I can pull it all up tight (they will be filled with epoxy later) when I epoxy the plywood in place.
