send a PM to Matt Unique of the Tomcat "Napolean".........he can hook you up. Matt seems to beat most online prices....the link to his profile is below....and I always like to keep it in the family.

Defender Marine has a huge selection and great prices www.defender.com

I used to buy a lot of stuff from their physical store when I lived in Connecticut and the people were always really helpful and knowledgeable.

I try to buy from Fisheries Supply to keep my money in-state but if not I check around when I am going to buy something online and more often than not I'll end up buying from Defender also. Fast, good service, good prices.

I can't believe that no one mentioned or recommended West Marine. Teeth

Great Selection...On Every Corner of Every Street in America.

Credit Loan Applacation right there on the counter and they will provide a pen to fill it out for a one time small no refundable fee.

Buy Local...when you need a last minute item for the boat...the mail man may be on holiday...then who are you going to call...."BoatBusters".

For me, West Marine is a given that I don't need to mention. I give my local WM a lot of business, especially after realizing that if we all don't, they will go the way of Boaters' World.

Isn't Boater's World still alive on line? I have bought way more at BW than West Marine. West Marine is my last resort. Very expensive. Anyway, Defender is a good choice. Also try Fore and Aft Marine http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/
For electronics, GPS Discount http://www.gpsdiscount.com/ has some good prices.

Hope this helps.

West Marine will match online competitor prices after adjusting for freight and tax and, the online competitor has to have the item for immediate shipment.

I bought a Garmin fish finder this way.

Best of all I got it the same day rather than having to wait for the UPS truck Thumbs Up

No Worries,

I am not sure where you are but here in the upper midwest we have Marine General Supply in Duluth MN.

It's a family owned and run business with a web site and mail order.

http://www.marinegeneralcatalog.com/

Very knowledgeable people. Prices are moderate.

You do not even have where you are in your profile...but, I like others do attempt to support the local shops. West has a new boat gig where you can get like a 90 day window to make purchases, with a discount This does save on shipping, as they get a truck in each week and if not in stock, they can generally get it in.

Then, on high dollar items, do an internet search... print off the pricing and take it in with you. Give the local guys something to work with. Then, also remember, without supporting your local guys... you will one day have to order and wait for everything....

Unfortunately, they shot themselves in the foot by requiring a $500 minimum purchase. The local manager overrode for me, but still...

While outfitting our new 2008 CD22 I purchased everything online. I would use Defender as my base price and then use Google to find out if anyone else was cheaper. I purchased most of the electronics from Defender, but I bought a lot from e-bay and other online retailers.

I like to extend every dollar I have (or don't have) - so I did a lot of research and found some very good deals out there right now. A lot of excess inventory that needs to move - mainly on e-bay.

Have fun.

I like shopping on -line. Most online stores are really mom and pop out fits and I would rather give them my money then a supper store like west marine or boaters world. Now I do shop at west marine but most times they dont have what i'm looking for or the price is way to much. Other times they are the cheapest. As far as buying local, they are all in the U.S.
