Got the "new" 19 angler home Sunday, after an uneventful trip. We put new tires on the trailer in LA, then made the drive easily up to Seattle. We passed truck after truck of Roma tomatoes, including one that showered us repeatedly with tomato juice. Another possible name: Tomato Express
The seller was, shall we say, "optimistic" in his description of the boat and trailer, but it was a solid buy nonetheless. New trailer parts are on their way (the previous owners were not the best with a trailer--how do you bend both fenders, the spare tire carrier, AND the tongue jack?) Too much beer I'm guessing.
Had the boat out for a cruise yesterday, and the difference in handling is quite compelling. I will clearly have to learn something about how to use trim tabs--a little goes a long way it seems. The motor (Honda 90) has a slight intermittent miss at 2000 rpm, but since it was serviced (carbs cleaned, etc.) in January and has been sitting since then, I'm running SeaFoam through both tanks before I jump to any conclusions. The power at higher rpms is smooth and strong. My local guy suspects water/gunk from ethanol.
I am hoping to replace/add a few items that were standard C-Dory fare, and wonder if anyone knows of part numbers/sources for them. I assume they might be off-the-shelf parts. They are:
--Interior grab rails (and how did they mount up?)
--The small black cap that screws on to the anchor light mount on the roof
--Raised letter C-Dory logos (the factory gave some of these to me, which I put on my 16 in place of the original ones--very cool--obviously not something I can find in a store, but maybe one of you has a spare set).
--Brands/color codes for gelcoat repair? The boat has the light grey trim, 2004 model year.
Thanks as always. See you on the water soon.

The grab rails were custom from either Bolton or Railmakers . Both located in the Northwest. Both very expensive. Try Bolton and see if they can help . The little black cap is a Perko part and should be screwed into its holder on the dash near the steering wheel for storage. Extra cap is Perko Part # Top Cap with Screw: 1158DP0BLK . Special order from any good marine store.
Dont know about the raised logos, might contact Sea Sport for those. Gelcoat is available through Spectrum Color .
Thats the kit you need .
Hope this helps ,

The folks at Bolton are really nice. And..it was interesting when I had to order a new forward starboard bow railing for a TC24... it was substantially less exspensive than I thought it was...even after packing and shipping to AL from their shop.
They shipped ON TIME... and the replacement was right on spot when the R&R took place.... and, yes, I found thru bolts without any sealants from the initial installation at the factory.
Congrats on your upgrade....and my the trailer life do nothing but get better. They do take a beating some times...particuarly if there used in all weather rather than leaving them in the garage/barn until pretty days.
I had a trailer that got backed into and/or hooked on both sides at a public launch ramp one day... I was talking with the man that hooked it on one side, when another "Bass Born Ranger".... hit the other. Since then... I attempt to stay away from ramps on the weekends...

Starcraft Tom somehow discovered that the little black cap on the anchor light can be substituted for with the cap off a propane bottle. That is what I am currently using and it stays put. |

Thanks a bunch Marc! That definitely helps.
Byrdman--I hear you, and I definitely use mine year-round. But like you, I avoid the ramp/harbor on days like 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc. I am always amazed to see the stupidity come out in full force. Best one this year was when a guy in front of me turned left directly in front of the ferry he was passing (a 383-foot jumbo on the Bainbridge line). Gotta love it! I guess we have jobs at the fire department for a reason, no?
lloyds--I'll try the propane cap for now.
Thanks again guys.

Just took a look at Spectrum on the C-Dory page. I have the light grey boat--any idea whether this is VIP Grey or Roberts Grey? Also, I presume "white" is the off-white that was used for the body of the boat?

The dealer manual I have refers to the color as Roberts Gray. _________________ Matt Gurnsey

It's an off white, but since the only list white I'll assume that that's the one. |

For the archives...the rails were made by Railmakers, and they're looking for the drawings for me. The inner rails sound like they mounted to the philips screws that hold on the roof rails.
Also, it seems like the inner rails only are as long as the rearmost two screws. The roof rails were made by Bolton.
Both companies were easy to deal with. The inner rails are estimated to be about $52 each.
