There are two cracks in the gray cockpit floor covering in my 2008 19' Angler, as if the covering is peeling up. They don't go down into the fiberglass...you can slip a knife blade on the flat under the flooring. They are approx. 12 to 18" long. Any suggestions? |

I had a similar problem and the factory sent me some paint but they told me I had to buy the hardener, they can't send it through the postal system apparently. Easier just to go to West Marine and buy some stuff and fix it yourself. |

The "hardener" is simply MEK. You can get a pint at Home Despot for cheap, even though you'll likely use only a drop or two. For me, West Marine is a 40 mile round trip. Home Depot - 2 mile round trip. Just don't exceed the proportions recommended. Less in this case is better.

Good to know, thanks. It's about time I take care of this little chore. In my case the paint didn't adhere well to the sides of the cockpit. |

Guys,
MEK is a solvent, not a hardner! The hardner is MEKP, Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide. Good luck with the repair. _________________ Roger

Oops, I just realized you're talking two part paint. I know MEKP works with gel coat and fiberglass as a good hardener because I've used it when it was recommended by a local surf board builder. I don't know from personal experience that it's equally effective with two part paint. Best you try it out before committing.
Sorry. I hate to give out hearsay solutions.

I also had the gray paint cracking soon after getting my boat. I didn't realize others have had the same problem.
Thanks for the info.
