For all you CDory types in the Portland/Vancouver region. Lake Merwin is pumping out some nice kokanee. I put the boat in at about 7:15 this morning, and had the boat back on the trailer about 9:30, with a nice limit of kokes. The average fish was 13", with one over 15". I also went up to Yale (limit is 16 kokanee at Yale) and added a few more. The fish there averaged 10-12 inches.

Firing up the smoker tomorrow.

Steve

Thanks for the tip. Did you see the picture of the 4 1/2 pounder on the ODFW website? Don't know where it came from but am hearing some almost unbelievable reports about the kokanee this year in wickiup.

Steve,

Are over nighters ok on Merwin? The wife and I have thought about heading up to the lake to stay the night. I hear the backdrop for all three is beautiful.
Thanks.
Bryrick

Bryrick, the issue is parking. The only public launch that I am familiar with is Speelyai, and you can not park overnight there. There is a park at the east end of the lake that may have a launch, but I have not explored it. When we overnight, we stay at a relative's place at Camper's Hideaway. I suspect that both Yale and Swift have better provisions for an overnight. All are beautiful.
