The white seat pad for my I/O housing has a small tear, unfortunately not along the seam. It's about 1/4 inch. in length. What product is recommended for cosmetically sealing this tear?

Thanks!

IDK, but they used to advertise some gooey glue stuff on TV that I bet you could find at a Dime Store. Wait - they don't call them Dime Stores anymore. Seriously, I do remember my mom using that stuff on the naugahyde (another word you don't hear anymore) chairs when one of us kids (usually me) would tear them up. It must have worked OK, because I seem to recall her not being so mad at me after she patched them.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but that was fun to write.

Did your boat sell yet?

That was fun to read! You and I had similar mom's. Same father??? Smile

Regarding the half bake sale of the Devlin, no takers....couple of fakers. It's listed with the C-Dory dealer at Port Orchard, who offered us free moorage all summer for the listing. If she doesn't sell, I'll probably show it at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat show while attempting to sell it myself. If no takers, then we'll keep it another year and perhaps charter it next summer. I'm convinced she'll charter well after I change charter outfits. I'm negotiating with one this week....one that is highly rated and has lottsa happy customers.

BTW....the dealer has sold only one C-Dory this season....a TomCat. There are used boat buyers out there but they are bottom feeding. Financially, so far....I'm in a position where I don't have to feed them.

Thanks for asking.

This reminds me of a gooey glue incident when I was a kid.

We had a naugahyde couch with a small hole in it. My dad bought some of the gooey glue stuff advertised on TV. He carefully followed the directions and repaired the hole. When done he said " It needs to dry. Lets all go get ice cream and it should be dry when we return."

When we returned and opened the front door there was foam all over the living room. Something in that glue caused our dog to go crazy, ripping open the spot with the glue and tearing out the foam.

My Dad was so mad he grabbed the dog, got in the car and left. That was the last we saw of the dog. He later told us he took it to the shelter.

If you buy naugahyde, be sure you get the virgin naugahyde. If you get the skin from a nauga that has mated before, it will tear easily... Twisted Evil

The way they chase each around the corral, I'd think it'd be tough to find any virgins at all! Rolling Eyes

Capt Charlie, is it a local nauga ranch? I knew a fellow Navy Chief that always wanted to own one when he retired. His back-up plan was a pet rock farm.

Memories of sea duty.

Actually, I think most nauga farms are on the West Coast, not around here. They had one on the Johnny Carson many years ago..... Shocked

This one doesn't look like a virgin however. Actually, I don't think any one of those in the picture is!! Wink

Dene, if the white one is your, that is a fine looking boat. Different from the other 27' on the web as yours operates on displacement mode. But that would be fine with me. If it was a year later I would definitely look at it. I really like those boats, especially the interiors.

Seriously, Greg...

I have tried several of those "magic" glues for vinyl/ leather seat repairs. They don't work, because of the flex involved in most areas of a seat.
