Wow...with current like that you could get blown into the rocks awfully fast. Wild ride!

Bet they did not run down back to the boat ramp!

Some one on the posters sight said that it was an illegal run. I would think the river would need to be closed to other traffic for their safety. How would you like to meet a kayak coming down the gorge that was not wide enough for 2 boats. The vessel going up river is the give way vessel.

I would like to see the hulls after their run. I hate pounding out dents and filling them with bondo to keep the hull straight. The skippers knew how to read water, but rocks were everywhere.

Crazy fun but like flying you need to accept the ultimate fate as part of the odds.

It's often on the Salmon River, ID.

For a few years I fished with a couple of guides on the lower Salmon River. We would go up the Snake River, hang a left and go 10-15 miles up the Salmon to their lodge. One of their boats was a 28' with twin 360's. That boat felt like it could climb up a waterfall. The trip upriver was exciting but controlled.

The real excitement came when going back down the river. Running with the current you have very little control. That is when they really have to know the river and where every rock is at every water level. I asked the guide how he learned to run the river. He said when he was younger he had an old steel boat and that he hit every rock in the river numerous times before he learned the exact routes.
