Anyone ever done it?

I hate the gold stripe on our black 25. NOTIHNG else on the entire boat is gold. I think gray would look so much nicer and would match the canvas and the boat name. I noticed it's peeling off in a few places and on the cabin top I'm missing about 1/2" here and there. So that got me to thinking. Remove it and replace it with something I like or leave it without. Input/experience?

I know, I'm being picky/anal. But I'll have some time on my hands to thing about crap like this come next weekend.....

Mark,

Go fo it! Get a little heat on it with a heat gun or hair dryer and peel that sucker off. Clean the area with acetone and become a striper (not stripper). Oddly, the TomCat didn't come with any striping although we've seen one with it. I might add some one day but it's way down my list of things to do.

A lot better way is to use 3M part # 07499, stripe off wheel. It's a rubber wheel that fits in your drill and works like an eraser, works GREAT, been using them for years, no way to damage gel coat. If you use a heat gun, be careful!!

well you just need to add some more gold bling if that's the only gold colored item you have. Throw some gold colored dingle balls on the overhead, drape a bunch of gold chains around the chart plotter....and add a thousand pounds of ballast (lowering kit), add the monster stereo and you'll be stylin

I have to remove the Nevada registration numbers from my new 22. They are the cheap kind that come from the hardware store as individual numbers. Heat gun or 3M wheel?

Since they're small and have sharp corners, I'd try a good single edged razor blade followed by Goo B Gone.... Or acetone... Or rubbing alcohol. If those don't work, try vodka and tonic (for yourself Laughing ) and a heat gun...

And don't forget to put some new gold rims with spinners on the trailer. Laughing

Actually, I have a couple of fancy gold rail clamp on rod holders that I don't need. Anyone need them?

Heck, while I am at it, I'll replace the S/S helm with one of those welded chain steering wheels. La vida loca-style. Cool

I'll do some checking on that 3M wheel. Sounds interesting.

I'm actually curious why it was installed in the first place. I figured the gel coat line wasn't clean/straight but then I noted the middle (color) line is straight as an arrow. Confused I even saw someone's 25 at FH (sorry, don't remember who's) that only had the pinstripe on the middle portion and not the lower one like mine. Confused Confused
