My husband and I are fairly new to the C-Dory experience. We have spent much time accessorizing and equipping our new boat. (It's amazing what still needs to be done and purchased, despite her "brand new"-ness.

I have used this site many times, and certainly appreciate the sharing of your experiences. Even the purchase and mounting of our light was done with much advice. Thanks.

Now, we are preparing to install a deck pipe for the anchor rode (hope the terminology is correct!). We do not have a windlass, but may someday. Where exactly should we install the deck pipe?

I've also noticed many concerns regarding the locker drain. How do I check for leakage? Our cabin seems okay, and we have taken the boat out a few times.

Thanks again for this site, and your advice.

If you are planing on a windlass, you may consider a 1 1/2" hause pipe (deck pipe also works fine)--and put it on the center line, where you will be putting the windlass. We have left hause pipes in place which were offset when putting in the windlass later in a boats life. It would be nice to use the same hole for the windlass.

You can put a can of water in the anchor locker area--and see if it comes out the bottom of the anchor rode locker.

I would have expected the dealer to install a hawsepipe/deckpipe/hausepipe, etc. Did they install an anchor roller? If not it would be a good idea to make sure the anchor and roller are compatible, i.e. the anchor fits and selfdeploys. Most of the drain concerns have been with 22's. I don't recall any 25's having that problem. It related to the small hole drilled through the side of the hull to allow water to drain out of the anchor locker. In some cases the hole was not sealed along the interior and water could intrude eventually creating a risk of delaminating the fiberglass. Enjoy your boat!!

There is no pipe installed, but I do have rollers, a cleat (again, hope that's the right terminology), and an anchor lock. I appreciate the assistance on the deck pipe.

Just for information-

The Hawse pipe is an option from the factory, or can be dealer installed. It is not standard on the boat. (Except Venture Series without factory windlass installation).
