Can someone explain to me WHY some brackets say "Not for 4 stroke motors" or "2 Cycle motors only" ? Yet they will have a maximum weight limit in excess of many 4 stroke engines ?!?!

Don't know about the difference, but if you're going to mount a kicker on a 25 I would look at the Mini-Jacker. It will set your kicker back enough to clear your trim tabs and still allow you to tie to your main for steering.

Hey even the ones reccommended for four stroke don't reccommend that you travel with the motor on. Don't they know these things are heavy. I ended up frabricating my own. I started with plans found on site , then revised it to suit my 19' angler. If it falls off I can only blame myself.
There are pics in my photos.

I have traveled with the kicker on the bracket--but taken some of the strain on the Garhauer davit to support the weight on the road.

Our guess, based on viewing these things, is that the four stroke tends to move the lighter weight brackets sideways when is use. Why that is, I can't say.
