Hola People.
I've been fishing up toward Mukilteo for the last four weekends. I'm averaging about 2.5 silvers per day up there, but would like to fish out of Shilshole this weekend.
Anyone been fishing over off West Point lately? From what I read it sounds like there might be some decent action there. I've never fished there, so if someone knows the area, it would be great to hear from them.
If anyone is going to be out there, let me know. I'll have plenty of cold beer aboard. |

Nice looking fish Roger!
I threw back one just like that a week and a half ago. 18# "Native" Silver.
In that time, it probably got over your way - this is probably the one I put back in the water...

Those 16' Anglers seem like nice fishing boats.
That sucks to have to throw them back. I had to throw back a 25# king a few weeks ago. Oh well I guess it's still fun to catch 'em, and it's better than having no fish.
Eighteen lbs. I wish I had caught that one during the Everett Coho Derby. My 11.64 pounder only got like 150th place. Winning fish was 17.6 I believe.
I'm going to try West Point this weekend. I'll let everyone know how I do. If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it. |

Got seven nice silvers on Saturday. Nothing crazy, just a nice steady bite all day. Two over fourteen pounds, they are getting bigger. |

Wow! 7 Silvers! I spent all morning around Ballard on Saturday and picked up one nice 9 lb. coho.
Where are you fishing? What are you doing?
Thanks for the report and continued good luck.

Hi Dan,
I was off West Point. Thought about going up between Ballard and Edmonds, but decided to hang out south there. Sure was a nice day out. I was surprised to see very few boats fishing.
Heck maybe we just got lucky. The creel counts here looks like it wasn't that great...

We were pretty deep, and trolling between 3 and 4 mph. My uncle got eight up north, so I just assumed it was good everywhere.
We might make it out this weekend but I'm not sure. If you are going to be out, let me know, and I'll tell you how we are doing on the radio.
This rain we are going to get this week might send them up the rivers, but hopefully they will hang out for a couple more weeks.

Thanks Ross,
I plan to be out on Saturday - not sure where but most likely Shilsho area if I can get across in the fog. I'm out of Port Orchard / Manchester.
Any tips I can get are appreciated.
Cheers,
Dan |

Sounds good Dan. I think it should be good again over there. I'll let you know if we are heading out. If not I'll make a suggestion of where I would fish. Not that it's necessarily worth anything, but at least you would ahve someone to blame if you don't have much luck.
What kind of gear were you fishing with last weekend? |

Ross,
Fishing with downriggers; in about 190 feet of water, fishing at about 65 feet. 11" prizm flasher, green/white hoochie. It's tough determining trolling speed with the tide because I'm using gps for speed above land. With the tide I was running about 3 mph above land and against the tide, low 2's.
And you?
Cheers,

Hi guys,
Today I went to the Chehalis river and came home with a 30 lb Chinook. Picture posted in my album Scorpio on page two. Sure would like to hook up with you folks and get in some Puget sound fishing some day. Bill ( Brave-Heart) and I would sure like to tag along and try for salmon out your way and maybe even have you come out our way and try some of our waters. Later Lyle _________________

Way to go Lyle! Nice fish! There seem to be an awful lot of us up here on the Sound - a group fishing event sounds like a good idea.

We're ready almost any day. We keep TwoLuckyFish at Cultus Bay, so we're ready to fish at Possession or nearby at a moments notice! Give the word, and we we'll probably be there. Last time out, we ran up to Maxwelton Beach and caught a 9 lb silver. But we've been skunked a few times at Possession....

Nice fish Lyle.
Yeah. Group fishing event sounds great to me. Although we might be running out of silvers soon.
Dan. Sounds like you were doing about the same thing we were. We were in about 250 ft of water, and fishing between 70-80 feet. We were running hot spot flashers, with white hoochies. Heck, maybe we just got lucky. We fished all day, from dawn, until we couldn't see anymore. We lost two fish. One shook a hook, and the other somehow snapped a leader between the hooks.
The one thing we might have done differently, is that we really tried to target the rips. The tide differential was nominal, so I'm not sure if that could have made much difference. I might have been going a little faster, but I don't think it could have made that much difference.
It's looking like we will be out on Sunday, and not Saturday, but I'm not positive yet. |

Hey again, while it appears that our offerings are very similar; are you using herring in any form; whole, cutplug, strips...?
By the way, I'll likely be out Westpoint way Saturday and potentially Sunday as well - monitoring 9/16/68.
Cheers,
Dan |
