Well, we finally did it. We are the Ramos family, we brought home a new 16 Cruiser. Blue trim, drop curtain, Honda 50 EFI, electric wipers, bow rail. We have added 2 Burnewiin pole holders, mounted fire extinguisher, first aid kit, distress kit, depth finder, rigged fenders and lines. Need to decide how to build anchor locker as the bow foam is now glassed into place! Permatrim is on order. Need to wax and decide on name. Package came with an EZ-Loader, was surprised to see that these little trailers now have oil bath bearings, no more grease and bearing buddies. Hoping it will be a little cleaner and water tight than the old set ups. We are on the Columbia River between the Deschutes River and the John Day River. Patrick and Joseph are days away from being 5 & 6 years old, they are my excuse for the expense. Must say that EVERYONE at Sportcraft Marine was exceptional to deal with. Many thanks to them. |

cool welcome aboard. I would think Lake Billy Chinook & kids & small mouth bass would make a heck of good trip.

Mr. Ramos, welcome to the party. Congratulations!
Do you mind if I come aboard? Say, it's nice in here. So clean. Your new boat's got that fresh-from-the-factory styrene smell I love. My 16's fragrant bouquet has pretty much been sniffed to extinction, and I miss it. You made a very good choice. Not only a 16-footer, but blue, too! Such good taste.
You'll love that boat, as we all do ours. Your young fellers'll get a wonderful opportunity to see their world from the water with their dad. And your Honda will still take them fishing when they're 20-somethings.

Jon and Dee Ann, Welcome aboard! You are going to love your boat. You live in a beautiful part of the Great Northwest. Lots of lakes and rivers to explore and to fish. Patrick and Joseph are two lucky little guys. I have flown into the airport at WASCO two times, and was impressed with the beauty of the area.
Happy boating!

Some of the guys and gals around here (me included) get a bigger C-Dory first, then get the 16 footer. Happy to see you went directly to the best C-Dory made. Just kidding, they are all great boats, even though dollar for dollar, you can't beat the 16 for fun, economy, and ease of handling. Welcome aboard the C-Brats. _________________ MartyP

Make sense of this: 1988 first boat, 18' Chrysler Lone Star, 1990 second boat home-made 20' welded aluminum w/ plywood pilot house full inboard. Went to C-Dory factory and loved what we seen (1992). Purchased used Montgomery 17' sailboat. Sold Montgomery in 1993 and purchased used Pacific Seacraft Flicka. Sold it in 1995. Bought new Boston Whaler 15' in 1997. Sold it in 2000 to buy house. 2009, purchased 16' C-Dory that we should have bought in 1988 and would have owned many years ago. If only I had known then what I think I know now! Amazing (at least for me) how slowly we aquire knowlegde and judgement. |

Jon and family - welcome aboard. As your need and tastes change, so do your boats. Two truly fine small sailboats in the middle... you may have likely changed from any other first boat to move on to those. You will enjoy the versatility and weather proiection. Congrats on the new addition to the family.
Best wishes,

Jon,
Welcome to C-Dory-land. In many ways better than Disneyland. We love your neighborhood. My wife grew up in the Dalles, well up over the ridge just a ways, and I spent years poking around the area. We too are/have been Montgomery sailors, (still having an M-15 #348). We do love the C-Dory. Great accommodations and practicality. The 16er list has been checking in with you and they are a great bunch, (I guess it comes with the family) so again, Welcome, enjoy, and come on out and join in the fun. Whether fishing, cruising, or camping there are memories to be made, and those boys will remember those outings for the rest of their lives. Hey, you may be starting something, and that would be OK.
Harvey

Ah, another Flicka owner, before the C-Dory. Our Flicka, LaJoya, cruised the Loop back east with us and was our home for three years - what a delightful little boat she was. Welcome aboard the C-Dory world! We came down your stretch of the Columbia a few years ago and it was a wonderful trip. Went up the John Day aways and through the locks on the Columbia with winds clocked at 70+ - some great country, good water, and wow - the winds that are possible. Back east they call those winds hurricanes - on the Columbia they are "tuck in the power boat and watch the windsurfer" days, eh? _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

Our Flicka was Serendipity. As far as wind goes, it's only a breeze until you break 25 MPH! Thank you all for the wonderfull welcome. Hopefully as time goes by we will have something usefull to contribute on this site for the good of all or many.
