...except it is March 17, St. Paddy's Day...when the Palace Guard Dog and I went out for our daily two mile walk at 5;45 a.m., we had Roger's giant snow flakes swirling around us, seemingly on the cusp of sticking, so we shall see how the day progresses. Capt D's trip to the Bahamas is looking better and better...

Pat, (and rogerbum et al,)

The supersize snowflakes made it onto the news last night as some of the largest the weatherman had ever seen too. Maybe he is one of Rogers neighbors, or yours. Sequim is having a bright beautiful blue patch at the moment. And being St Patrick's day, I am wearing green, 'cause I have been looking at the thread for Lake Powell and am somewhat envious of the ability to take the time for a trip south. But for today, I am looking forward to getting back on the water ....... soon.

Can we please begin springtime? I, for one, am ready.

In the meantime, the heater under my desk is going in an attempt to keep warm in our barn like building.

Think Hot

AMEN! I worked last night...the wind was blowing, I could see my breathe and I was forced to dig out the ski cap in my trunk. Disgust

It's 9:50 am. We have the door of the 5th wheel open, the sun is shining. Oops, the a/c just kicked on! Wink We're looking out at the mountains and all the hub-bub of Laughlin. Steph, Dan, and Joan seem to be anxious to go do some gaming to see if we can pay for this trip. Rolling Eyes I'm just happy to be somewhere on St. Pat's Day that shorts and a t-shirt are proper attire. Very Happy

Best wishes,
Jim B.

If it makes you feel any better, we're heading for the Grand Canyon tomorrow, and it will be much colder at that higher elevation. Yeah, I'm talking about having to wear big-boy pants and socks. Shocked

Be careful. I've heard socks can chafe your pinky toe. Wink

Dotty and I took a little cruise today from Bellevue down to Renton. Beautiful clouds blowing by from west to east, apparently searching for Fall City. Nobody else on the water, Lizzie, our 6 year old grandaughter, attends a Spanish immersion school in Bellevue. Her dad says we should have named the boat 'C-se puede'.

Translation for gringos: C (could be "yes") "is able." Wink

I like the boat named after your granddaughter. Very Happy Thumbs Up

It's true. When I have to wear socks, I can actually hear my pinky say, "Are we being punished?" Mr. Green

Pensacola FL. Currently @ 5:30 PM--temp is 73 degrees. High today was 75.2 in the shade. Beautiful day. We spent 5 hours at the Escambia River Muzzle Loaders Gun range (all weapons acceptable)--and each fired over 300 rounds from 22, 22 mag, .32 .38, special .357, 9 mm, 44 special and mag, plus 12 guage as our qualification for Concealed Weapons permits. Lots of point and shoot, as wall as difficult shots, from supine, on the side, under tables and around posts etc.

Spring finally seems to be here! Come on down!

A little bit of everything in the San Juans yesterday and today. Rain, sun, sleet, wind... Temperatures ranged from the high 30's to the mid 40's but were bearable on the water thanks to the Wallas. Coming across Rosario Monday afternoon was nasty. Bad tide rips near Thatcher Pass...bad enough that we took some extra time to go around to Peavine Pass instead. This morning it was nice and calm the whole way from Decatur to Twin Bridges. Here's a pic from yesterday afternoon:

We've been over on the Platte River in Nebraska looking at 300,000 sandhill cranes - sky got dark from all the birds.

Driving back to Colorado along the South Platte we had to have the air conditioner on. Beautiful spring day here in the foothills of the Rockies.
