I think we saw this on Page 4 of the 1983 C-Dory brochure posted elsewhere on C-Brats...here's the link:

1983 C-Dory Sales Packet

It'll take you to the thread...you'll have to download the brochure.

I love this website!

I'm going to post the photos from Craig's List here, as well as the text, as the ad will expire in time or be removed when the boat is sold, and the link in the first post will not then work, leaving the photos lost to us.

I have seen this boat up close when it was for sale a couple of years ago. It used to be located on the hillside. It was a little rough and judging by the pictures has been cleaned up a little.

I say buy it and remove the hold and floor. Then build a long cabin forward. I saw a bigger bow picker on the big C set up that way. Pilot house in the back. a small deck with downrigger just forward of that and then a cabin. makes for a nice custom cruiser.

Tom-

Wouldn't the rear pilothouse make it hard to follow around a fish that decided to go to the other side of the boat?

How low would the cabin have to be to be able to see over it to steer, etc?

Would the cabin still have functional height and headroom?

Just speculating, just like you!

Have a great day, bud!

That was my neighbor’s boat for few years, he use to keep it down in Whittier and commercially fish out in PWS, had a Finfish permit. As I recall he picked it up from the widow of the previous owner at a bargain, had little time on the clock. From our conversation I believe he said it was a prototype. Said he had a heck of a time getting it up on step especially if more than a few passengers were on board, said everyone had to move forward.
Rather squealy on the water was his description I believe, and cramped quarters for overnights. Not having the ability to access the stern other than out the rear window was also a disadvantage.
Next time I see George I’ll pump him for some more information.

I have seen this boat also but it was at least 20 or more years ago. It was in a storage yard on East End Road in Homer. There were at least 5 other 27' CD's around Homer then. There were two 27' CD's sent to Pt. Barrow about 20 yrs. ago also.
I was the one that sent the 1983 sales brochure in that had the bow picker in it.

I think I recall that at one time someone posted that there was, in fact, only one of the bowpickers ever made, effectively making it a prototype.

There were more than a few custom one-of-a-kind boats built in the early years of C-Dory.

Assembled together in a photo album, they would make quite an interesting collection!
