Hello,
I've got a 3 x 15 x 17 aluminum prop on the Honda 135. It pushes my CC23 with full fuel, water, some gear, and 5 people at 32-33 mph with 52-5300 WOT rpm. I'd like to get a SS prop and use this aluminum prop for a spare.
What little I know about props tells me I should go with less pitch to increase my WOT rpm. I haven't located a SS 3 x 15 x 15 but Honda does have a 14.5 x 15 and a 15.5 x 15. Should I get one of these or something else?
Thanks for your help!
thanks,
/david |

There will be slightly less flex with the Stainless Steel prop. You will gain 400 RPM theoretically with the drop of 2" inch of pitch. However, if you keep the prop size toward the upper limit, with 0.5" increase of diameter --this is probably not significant in change in RPM, but with a relatively large and heavy boat, you want as much blade diameter as you can swing.
I suspect that you will end up in the 5500 to 5600 RPM range, and have a slightly better hole shot/acceleration. _________________ Bob Austin

Dave , I'd go with the 14.5 X 15 . Honda outboards want to run wild and free! They need to spin up to do their thing!
