The reason for the copper wire or you can use zincs. (Copper wire is less expensive.)
Some pots experience electrolysis and this keeps the crab wary of the pot. The copper eliminates this some. A comm'l crabber told me to try it and it works.
I will take a photo of my pots and post them. However, I just weaved the very heavy copper around the bottom of the tunnel. I have pulled the pots 4 times since the addition of the copper and it is evident that the pots are fishing better.
