Hello out there ,

I could definitely use some assistance on getting my 2005 19' C Dory up and running . I just got it a few months ago and have been experiencing engine problems. First few times I took it out it was running great. I took it out of the water and installed a radio and a GPS system and the problem began when I put it back in the water. Starts up and idles okay but over 2000 RPM it runs rough and cuts out. I changed the spark plugs and it was running great even up to 5000 rpm but the same problem when I put it back in the water.

Any suggestions? Could I have messed up some thing on the electronics ?

My skills are below basic but thought maybe I could do something before taking it in $$

Thanks,

Steve

That’s a tough one Steve, but it sound like the motor is starving for fuel under load.
When the problem occurs have someone look at the squeeze bulb, if it’s going flat your tank filter is probable bad.
Another way to check the tank filter>:
Detach the fuel line from the motor, poke something in the end so gas flows freely and put the end it in a bucket, now squeeze the bulb and see how fast it fills. If the bulb struggles to fill it could be the bulb but most likely it’s the filter.
The motor has a fuel filter also; if the tank filters bad I’d change it too.

Best of luck,

Well, I've had problems with Journey On's 2005 Honda 150. If your Honda is an EFI, read what I found: Honda 150 EFI . Good luck. If it's not EFI, look for water in the carbs.

Hi Steve

you should change all the filters including the Racor Fuel/Water
Separator you should have a inline fuel filter on the same side as the carbs
if your engine is a 05 a assume you have carbs not EFI

the pickups in the fuel tanks aswell as any fuel line problems can be eliminated by running the motor on a portable tank

you could also try some sea foam in the tanks it might work

when you say it runs rough is it just at 2000rpm?
