I have been looking for a 12v 15" lcd tv/dvd that is ac/dc that can be used in my Truck Camper and my CDory. I went to the Flying J web site and found the Audiovox FPE1507DV that I have been looking at for $449.99. If you go to Amazon.com, you will find the same one for $305.00 including free shipping. I am going to see if prices come down in the next month or so when shopping for Christmas sales begin.

Does anyone have data on how much juice you would use to run one of these TVs (or anything else) off DC vs. running it on AC through the inverter? Same? Twice as much?

Thanks,
Warren

Warren I think it is more effiecent running off straight 12 volts rather than the inverter. The inverter itself as I understand it is a load. Seems like I read they are 80% effiecent.

I guess my house wiring setup is weak, but I cannot run the TV or much of anything for long on an inverter, even though I have two house batteries and two engine batteries. The inverters really suck up the power.

Here is a link to Sky Angel. Apparently most of the channels are religious ones, which is probably how they can afford to do this for free.
