I have been searching high and low for a Tv/dvd. 12 volt or 110 run with an inverter. The one I had on the Mis Dee was great, but now obsolete. One of the R25 owners has a nice 110 volt with a mount, I would sure like to find. Looks like stainless. If anyone knows the make or source for either of these, I would apreciate.

Good luck. I looked high and low too and finally resorted to using my laptop as a tv. I use slingbox and a $100 USB digital tv receiver. Both work fine with the latter depending on signal strength. The former requires an internet connection.

There is a TV/radio combo that folds up to it's ceiling mount that Brent and Dixie had on their TomCat awhile back.
I like to watch TV in different places, the bunk, the cockpit, the dinette, so I just got a thin, light Polaroid Flat TV from WalMart and set it up where ever I want. You can run it off an inexpensive converter, but I've heard on this site somewhere how to bypass the 110V plug for a direct 12V hookup.
You know digital TV is around the corner in a few months. It will be the only way to go without a converter box.
Anyway, I think you ought to consider a thin, movable, inexpensive model also.

John, just for fun, I checked Walmart for the Polaroid thin flat TVs - the user reviews are uniformly awful - seems the power boards regularly fail early and customer service ranges from none to poor. The comparable Sylvania TV, which is a little more expensive, had pretty good reviews. Hope your Polaroid holds up for you! _________________

I saw an AC / DC HD TV DVD combo 15" at a truck stop for @ $250. No inverter needed. _________________

Like Greg I'm using a Slingbox/Laptop that's simply astounding...when the internet's accessible. Before the Slingbox I mounted a 10.4" Sharp Aquos flat-screen(EBAY) to the window trim with the Sharp Wall-Mount Bracket and a custom adapter plate that I had fabbed up. Smaller screen = less amperage.
This keeps the TV securely out of the way and perfect for viewing from the dinette area with the remote. I used the Govt' coupon to pick up an "Artec T3A Pro Digital-to-Analog Converter Box" for just $10.00 out of pocket. This converter is ac/dc so it's perfect for the boat. A digital antenna is next on this agenda. _________________ Pete

I looked into the Slingbox and from what I can tell, it will not work with my DSL connection at home, which gives me 732 kbps down and 127 kpbps up. Do I understand that correctly? I have the fastest DSL available in my area, from Verizon.
Thanks,

That sounds like the ticket, I would get two,one for the camper other for the boat. Now if I could just find that truck stop........I have gone on the trucker store web site, but did not locate that set.

Any Flying J truck stops near you? Or Loves, Pilot, or Travel America (TA)? They all seem to have a variety of 12v appliances.
Here's a link to Flying J electronics...
http://www.flyingjestore.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=DisplayCategories&matrixitemid=28
I didn't see anything great in there, but they do offer monthly specials. Not promoting them, but we do use a Flying J travel card that give us the cash price at their pumps. Plus, they generally have RV lanes that make fueling while towing easy. They usually have their monthly sale items advertised on the pumps. |

Flying J is our favorite over nite spot. I will check their site. I read their adds in the wash room. While I wait on my prostate. I get to read the whole damn thing.

Thanks James, there were two that might be OK. Audiovox and Naxa from $400 to $450 I need a flip up mount to go with the TV. The one little Toot has looks good to me. Anyone know what it is or where to find one?

Just a little hint when buying a new set - You'll want to select a TV with an "external Transformer". In most cases if they have an external transformer they are 12 volts and therefore you may run them direct off your 12v system or use the transformer with A/C.
The output voltage is on the label right on the transformer. _________________ R/C Helicopter Pilot - 09 Ranger 150

It appears that you do. From the Slingmedia site Quote: | Broadband cable or DSL high-speed Internet connection (Minimum Upstream Network Speed of 256 kbps) | http://www.slingmedia.com/go/faq |

Too much information
Wouldn't you just love to have the patent on that marketing scheme?

IdleUp, if I understand you correctly, if the set has that external power source that plugs into 110 and goes through that box and the output is 12V then I can just unhook it and hook on a 12 volt plug and use it in a cigarette lighter adaptor? |
