Vacationing for a couple weeks in sunny, 'warm' Florida Keys and it was below 50 last night. C-Dory owners will be replacing their air contioning units with a Wallas stove! I now wearing more layers than when I cruise the Maine coast in the fall. |

Hey Smuttynose I spent my last winter working in your home town (OUTSIDE) and I know you know what cold weather is. 40 degrees in Florida is the same as 0 in New Hampshire. Good thing is it doesn't last long .... I hope! It was 47 this morning at 9:30 in the sun on my front porch this is totally unacceptable. _________________ marvin |

I was showing a customer a 19 Angler this morning . Went to show him the battery compartment . The bomar hatch was frozen in place . I was a little surprised to say the least . Going to Stuart tomorrow , its supposed to be 31 when we get there in the A.M.

The coldest New Years Eve we spent was in Ft Mevers Beach, FLORIDA, in 2001. It was below freezing and "set a record." Glad to see Florida is still setting rrrecords. Since we were on a So Cal boat, we didn't have heating and were in bed by 9, watching the condensate drip off the overhead. I mean it was COLD.

I went to school in Florida (Daytona Beach). I remember one night cruising back from class on my motorcycle I had to stop several times to warm my hands on the engine. I recall it was something like 31 degrees that night. Ouch...thankfully those temps do not last!
It's no fun to scrape ice off your windshield before departing from the dock! _________________ Captain Matt

we're in Tavernier, FL for "the season" after leaving South Dakota on Christmas Day. Walking down the dock today in the wind & cold, all I thought was "at least there isn't any white stuff in the air"

We have had several nights in the low 20's this last week (and again this AM). I surveyed a boat at 10 AM this morning and it was 34 degrees when I started. All a bit cold for Florida! _________________ Bob Austin

It may be cool in the evenings but all you need to do is get in the SUN and out of the wind during the day and you can't beat the feel of the rays. Hang in there it will be 77 degrees here in Venice FL on Sunday.
Enjoy The Day
