I would go more than 7000 lbs--at least 7500, and probably more like 8,000 lbs. for a CD 25. There are many trailer builders in Florida., but I suspect you want one in WA. Look at local fishing forums, Craig's list etc.

I have been looking for a trailer for my 18 foot CC--and most I find advertised are junk....but there are some good ones out there...

Thanks Jim
Looks like some good buys there! I'll have to check on the capacity. The boat motor and fuel are about 2500 lbs--plus the trailer weight--probably need a capacity of 3000 lbs. Probably a load range C 14" tire.

Take care

Journey On has a 7500# GVW EZ-Loader roller trailer under her. Got it when we bought the boat. The EZ factory replaced the wheel bearings (even though we had no problems,) under warranty. No other problems in about 12K miles, and it tows well. This is our second EZ trailer. The only difference is that the new one has good disk brakes. You get to pick the brand, but here is what I consider important:

1. Galvanized or aluminum. Goes without saying, but I said it.
2. Roller. We (actually, I, Judy's in the truck) winch on and slide off, and rollers allow one to keep the boat higher on the launch ramp and is easier on me.
3. Electric-hydraulic 4-wheel disk brakes. I believe the only new thing is the electric-hydraulic brakes. Needed for a C-25.
4. Short tongue. Initially we had a 10' tongue, then I changed it to a 9'. An 8' would be even better. Those are EZ dimensions, just make sure the tongue is as short as possible.
5. LED lights. These are standard now, but I had to seal the tail lights with silicone seal. The markers are OK.
6. If you want to tow with a 1/2 ton (gasp) get an equalizer hitch. Works with surge brakes, and even better with electric-hyd brakes.
7. Good D-range tyres. We have Goodyears, with no problems, but I don't know that those are the only good tyres.

Please note that all of these are my opinions. Remember, everyone gets their own opinion.

Boris

It is interesting that the majority of the trailers in Florida are aluminum and they seem to last as well, or maybe better than galvanized trailers (and we can get good galvanizing still done in Alabama).

One hint, wash down the trailer frame and especially the brakes when you are thru dunking the trailer--

Kodiak brakes have a much better reputation than Tie Down brakes.
