Ok, just spoke to Ruthie at Cutter Marine in Baltimore where the boat was originally sold, to a priest of all people. Ruthie pulled the file and indeed her file says the HIN is an H and that C-Dory has had issues with H's and I's before. She assured me it's fine and C-Dory will issue some sort of new document so I can get a new NYS title. Email now going to Jeff at C-Dory. I will not go down with out a fight!

Oh gawd, Andrew. Now you've given the Weight Police license to comment on the trailer's puny GVWR of 7055 lbs.
Hilarious and more so by the hour!
Pete in NY with either an impossibly high hull number of his own or his was punched in by that dang temp employee C-Dory hires to work on the one Friday afternoon when it's sunny in Seattle.
Pat the sorter of assorted numbers when he should be obeying his Admiral and looking for a recliner to suit his reclining years. Eat yer heart out, I was out two days ago and picked up some delicious Calico Bass for fish tacos.
Where's Joe with a suitable maiden?
I can't wait to meet the crew at SBS.

Don't forget, every once in a while boat dealers retag serial numbers on boats that do not sell from the prior year. No-fault of any owners, it is just something that occurs occasionaly in the industry. I hope the 6th grade teacher enjoys the boat and Andrew enjoys his Hatteras. Don't sweat the small stuff. |

alandgin: info about HIN's is here:
http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm
Don, I agree that the guy making the labels on the Dymo tape machine used to mold numbers and letters into the hull might also be the guy that drills holes in rubrails to ensure that rain water will leak into our boats. He might also carry a Bostik caulking gun on his tool belt.
Andrew: Hope you get the most for your boat you can and don't leave too much money on the table. Also hope you can straighten out your HIN with NYS DMV ladies so you can transfer title to a new owner.
This has been amusing, but now I have to go shopping and not looking forward to Saturday traffic. _________________ Regards,

Congratulations to the buyer and seller. I think that this sounds like a very good boat and "Deal"--and the Admiral had given me the "OK" at the first price.
I certainly respect the first man with the cash way of doing business and that is what I do. But E bay is an auction--and I guess I wonder what happend to the auction process? (Also was suprised that the thread was allowed--but that was explained--and it has been must entertaining).
We wish both of you well--and to enjoy the new boat--hope that the new owner joins in all of the C Brat games!

Well, my boat is, sadly, sold. It went to a great couple Mark and Carol from Pennsylvania. We worked out the hull number issues and all will be well. You're right, I closed the Ebay auction early as I was suspicious the bidders were pulling my leg. Turns out they probably were not. Sorry. Monday will reveal what is really happening with the hull numbers, both with my boat and others when I speak to C-Dory directly.
This has been fun and I look forward to meeting some of you someday on the Hudson River or LI Sound. I'll write a final post when the final mystery is solved. Merry Christmas to all.

Bob...Yes...thataway Bob... just in case we have as many Bobs as Rogers.
You need to remind me of this "1st Man with the Cash" rule you have going if for some reason you ever go to sell your boat to me. Now, just how do you think I would respond after driving down fron TN when we had agreed on a price, and upon my arrival, you said... Well...sorry Byrdman... some priest bought it from the Church next door... and he gave me $2,000 more...!!
Andrew: Glad you sold your boat, thanks for your help in squaring away some hull nubmers, and thanks for making it a deal for the new owners. IF 50K was the final price...that was for sure a great deal... and like Bob... I had already started looking real hard...and checking airline tickets to your area... I have never owned a CD25...yet.
I do look forward to boating in the waters up your way.
Yall have a good one.
Byrdman... who just spent several good dollars on furniture...instead of a boat...but...if Momma aint happy....aint no body happy... and... it will look real nice. So..one day I will follow up on this post...and you will see what I was buying instead of flying to NY... Grin. _________________ Patrick Byrd "Byrdman"

Indeed, this has been an interesting forum
Thanks for the "Nautical Know How" site, Pete got 'er earmarked
Love Sea Wolf's sister
Agree with thataway Bob's curiosity -- how much would the 04 CD 25 gone for on ebay if run its course to Christmas Eve???? What's your guess, C-Brats??
I understand Andrew's suspicion of phantom bidders on ebay, but have to wonder why he even began that process and not go with the C-Brat marketplace??? After this forum there's no doubt we're a bunch of good guys /gals who's motto is: "No Rules - Just Be Nice"
Final thought: there's a good deal on CD's out there if you're patient and lucky!! Such as Mark and Carol from PA - no doubt they're aware of this C-Brats site - I'm sure we'll hear from them! _________________ Boatless Al |

Here Here
This has been neat. And, yes...they did get what appears to be a real good deal....and yes..it would have been fun to see what type of Christmas bids would have come in.... and wow....what a sister...so far, I have not seen her at any of the gatherings or events....but...life is still going on.

For Byrdman's education: First man with the Cash--as I practice it:
You call me and say I want to buy your boat. I say cash talks--you give me a deposit (wire--mail check--or if you are a C Brat--your word)--and you had the first crack at the boat.
For example I sold C pelican to a party in California this year. He was the first to contact me and say that we had a solid deal. After discussion I felt that he was sincere and thus the boat was held for him--even though I had other offers and we waited several months before the deal was finalized. Currently I have promised a dinghy at a certain price to a list member--I will deliver it to him in the Spring, when I drive out West.
Another boat I had two offers at the same time--same asking price--I would not increase the price, after giving my WORD that this was the price I would sell the boat at. One of the people had his own air plane and said he would fly down the next day. I had to make the judgement--and put the other person on second because he could not make it for 5 days. The person flew in--gave me a deposit, pending sea trial and survey--and I told the second person that the boat had a bid on it--not necessary to consider driving down to see the boat. If the first person pulled out--then the second person gets the boat.
For example--if I told Byrdman that he could by a boat for XXXXX and knowing Byrdman to be honest--he would get that boat for XXXXX--and I would not sell it to another, even if he offered me $2000 more. I would need to know that Byrdman or whom ever had both the resources to buy the boat--and the method of money exchange would have to be agreed on. If it was someone who I did not know--then yes--the first person who gave me cash deposit would have preference.
