OK, so David is K7KJR, and I am KD7OAC - fire up the old 2 meter rigs on the Lyman Hill repeater?

Roger, I told susan about a prize for the best decorated boat and now I have to excute the master lighted boat plan. I drew the line at dressing like santa but now i have to figure out how to mount a deers heads on the bow. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Just don't mount your dear's head on the bow and everything else will be OK!
I have some bottles of wine selected for the winners (excellent stuff of course). _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Regarding the deer head on the bow... I can just picture a small child on the shore screaming, "They killed Rudolph!"
In the Lighted Boat Parade we do, about every other boat has someone in a Santa suit onboard. On our boat, we wear red shirts and Santa hats... no beard, no white fur trimmed jacket. We're just "the helpers." Come on, Tom, don't be an old Scrooge. _________________ Jim & Joan

Is anybody else planning on arriving via Puget Sound, rather than by road/trailer? "One if by land, two if by sea"...and all that.
It seems like I'll be running the route in reverse, to some extent, meeting up with the C-Brats wherever we happen to intercept. Heck, I might make two full roundtrips through the locks, if I accompany the flotilla when it takes its trip. Or not...we'll see what the crew is up for.
Anyway, is anyone else planning on attending "by sea"? Wanna try to schedule something? Meet up out at Shilshole or just inside/outside the locks? _________________ Timothy R. R. Flanagan |

Oh, by the way, I wanted to suggest for anyone wanting to gain some familiarity with the commercial maritime industries lining the lakes and canals of Seattle, take a look at the blog of tugboat skipper Brian Campbell.
I've been working my way through his online "diary" bit by bit, and I've learned a great deal about tugboats, barges, cranes, drydocks, locks, bridges, etc. It really brings this waterfront to life for me.
http://www.campbellmaritime.com/
The earliest entries start in March 2005. The current URL for that month is
http://www.campbellmaritime.com/cm/captainsLogCalendar.asp?monthoffset=33
(please note if you're reading this in the future, this URL will only take you "back" 33 months, so it may not take you to March 2005 after December 2007!) |

Can anyone tell me what the "Seahorse" is that Campbell writes about HERE?
Thanks,

The Seahorse is the self-propelled crane barge that Northern Marine Salvage uses. There is a good deal of cooperation between Campbell and Northern Marine Salvage. They are located right next to one-another.
(Hey, Warren's addicted...that was me, two weeks ago!) |

So, what are the plans for lunch? Caryn ran into Brock yesterday and he mentioned that those who don't have their boats can still meet everyone for lunch. Is there a scheduled time? Is it still at Chinook's at Fisherman's Terminal? Let us know, we might try to meet y'all for lunch. _________________ Peter & Caryn

So,
Here's the plan - (from an earlier post in this thread)
We'll all join up in Lake Washington just W of the Husky football stadium around 10AM. and cruise down through the locks and back again. We'll plan on a late lunch (about 12:30 or 1PM) at Chinooks and probably wrap up around 3 or 4PM by the time we return to our launches.
I am planning on us all tying up at Chinooks for the meal and the "fantabulous" prize awards ceremony. E.g. the best decorated boats will receive a prize. I'll have some bottles of wine for 1st and 2nd place. My mom will be joining the trip and since she has no vested interest in the group, if no-one objects, we can make her the honorary judge (I'm disqualified for this contest).
At this point in time, the NOAA forecast is showing a 20% chance of precip with a low of 37 and a high of 44 and 80% plus cloud cover. Not the fabulous weather I was hoping for but not bad for Seattle in Dec. |

Sounds like a plan to me, Roger! We will probably launch at Mercer Island or 40th Street. Dunno about the decorations though...if the stars align just right, we should have a brand new King Marine camperback on Crabby Lou, and the Mr Heater Buddy blasting away! If not, the Alaska bulkhead Patty made is pretty scumpo too! |
