Tom,
The smoker is made of 3/4" plywood and is 48" X 36" X 48" high and breaks down so it can be stored. I had obtained three stainless 1 1/2" angle frames with stainless steel expanded metal mesh some time ago, so I built the smokehouse to fit these. I use the bottom section of a brinkman electric smoker for a heat sorce and use chunks of green alter wood. I can smoke about 100 lbs of king slabs in about 7 to 8 hours. I have had about 20 humpys halfed in this unit and sure saves a lot of time getting them smoked. The racks are the most expensive thing if a guy would have to make them. If you would like to see let me know. I live in Everett, not far from Forest Park off of Mukilteo Blvd.
Jim

Chromer nice fish. I was on point no point on saturday with peter from c-dancer. The weather blow up for a while and got a little bumpy. We were fishing the PSA edmonds black mouth derby that had been postponed from last month due to weather. the days catch was not that good. of the 80 people with tickets I think 20 fish where weighted in. Some of these guys will not keep small fish so more were caught but not kept or weighted in. The winning fish was only 6 lbs 12 oz and was good for $750 my 6 lb 5 oz fish netted me and peter $250 at fourth place. I took the mystery fish prize instead of fourth because I was closest and it was more then the 4th place prize. All in all an good day. peter lost a just legal fish at the boat and I lost a big fish, 15 lbs, when it ran away and then turned 180 and ran at me faster then I can reel. good day on the water.

Chromer,

I saw you out there today at Point No Point - nice fish. We also picked up two legal fish - not quite as big as yours though - we had one at 24-25" and another a little over 23". Both hatchery fish, both quite red when filleted. Nice work on yours!

Trolling, the largest fish at ebb. More fish takes on flood tide, but smaller. It sure felt good to be back out there. I havent been in the Sound since October.

Rogerbum in the blue 22?

Yep - was in the blue 22 with no name on the side and the cutting board table on the transom. There was another blue 22 with no-name down at Pilot point. That one appeared to be a bit newer - he was right along side when we got our first fish, don't know who that was.

Tom, thanks again for the great day on the water. I'm still mad about "crackering" that fish caught so early in the day. I guess you can say it's always interesting with me on the boat, what with tangling downrigger lines and the like Wink

Way to go Roger. You're the man, like you always say, you always catch fish.

Nice fish Chromer, looks like the fish Tom lost. Oh well, there's always next time, right? Since the season's been so good this year, it looks like I may get another chance at losing, I mean catching a blackmouth this year. Thumbs Up

Peter

I know what you mean. We've still got 3 weekends left! I'm trying to get out there as much as possible since this season's been so great. So what have you been catching with?

My base setup is a big 11" green flasher with a chip thing. 42-46" 30-lb leader and a 3.5" coyote spoon with green in it.

If you want some bigger fish but less of them the north area of 8 has been putting out some bigger fish. WDFG weighted a 26 lbser last week and many more 20lbers have been coming out of the baby island, green bank area and I heard from the whale watchers in that area about large schools of bait that can be seen from the beach and cliffs. Susan and I will be fisihing and then golfing hat island on saturday with our puget sound anglers club. one of the members is a resident of the island and we are going to fish in the morning then golf at 10 to noon them bbq at the marina. should be a lot of fun. I think that anyone can show up. golf and moorage has to be paid for by you but the bbq is free. Should be fun.

Midchannel is supposed to be hot with some decent-sized fish. However, after a late start and a longish day, we didn't touch one--lots of birds and more seals than I thought lived in Puget Sound, so there should be fish there. Talked to several boats on the water, including the C-Dory Sunfish, but only one boat reported a lost fish...nothing in the box.

It was a nice day, though. Maybe it was too nice?
