Gas was around $4.35 at the Homer fuel dock a few days ago - not sure what it is today...probably about the same. |

I fish out of Westport where ocean conditions favor the Grady Whites, Sea Sports and Skagit Orcas of the world. This year I will be smiling as I pull up to the hot spot using less than half the fuel that they use to get there. |

I just checked the fuel price at Fred's Marina, Multnomah Channel, near Portland a couple days ago. For regular (with 10% Ethanol included) it was only $7.11 per US gallon, delivered directly from the dock pump conveniently to your boat tank. NO that was not the 7/11 store, that was the fuel price at the marina. It was a few blocks up the road to the 7/11 store.

About $6.25 USD a gallon here in Victoria right now after a 40-50c price drop. Fortunately, we managed to limit out on dangerous grabs and get a small halibut each of the last 2 trips out.
I'll be interested in Westport prices in late August and early September. Might be worth coming down to run for tuna! Any excuse to "save money" with boat fishing math. |

In a relatively down-in-the-mouth thread, this autocorrection provided me a much-needed chuckle. Believe I'll try to get my hands on some Dangerous Grabs myself this summer. |

thataway wrote: | Yes fuel prices are going up. But in the greater scheme of life, they are a minor expense when owning any boat. What is important is your adventure-pleasure. For example now many Hotel Rooms, or resorts are $250 to $1,000 a night. How much fuel would that buy? Or consider the $10,000 Cruiseship, for a week or two--and you have a far better experience for a few dollars more than last year.
Do it now--while you can. That is true of all stages of life. It is what you didn't do which will haunt you when you are old. (What ever than means today.) |
Since you put it that way.....well said _________________ John & Vicki Clark
