It is indeed a blow to morale that Charlie will not be in attendance...his work and his good humor, and knowledge, make him a key part of our gathering...Charlie: Could we send a sedan chair to pick you up, complete with sackbuts and drums?
On the other hand, Fred will be there with the family and his spoons.

Actually, I hurt my eye...
I was walking past the local mental hospital the other day, and all the patients were shouting: ”13….13….13….13….”
The fence was too high to me to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks and looked through to see what was going on.
Somebody poked me in the eye with a stick.
Then they all started shouting: “14....14....14...14…”
Not really, just posted that on the Daily Laugh too.
In reality, 4 years ago I had a total knee replacement on the right landing gear. It's never been quite right and once in awhile, I do something and twist it again and it hurts like the devil. I've got to go get it x-rayed or MRId or some such thing but I've got orders to stay off of it and that lets boating out for awhile.
The name tags have been sent to Terraplane however, along with a 30 hard copies of the attendance list with all the info you all so patiently provided. I'll post the current one in the Documents Section for posterity as soon as I'm sure folks are done signing up...We're at 30 boats, fortunately, there'll still be a TC255 there without Captain's Cat, the one from Sail Annapolis. John has promised to look in his goodie locker for some giveaways and I know Honda sent a bunch of hats.
Hoist one for me and march smartly with your kazoos. I'll be there in spirit!

THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY ARE SINCE LEAVING THE MILITARY IN 1972. NOT THAT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA. OUR DRIVING MILES LOOK TO BE ABOUT 600, SO WE ARE PLANNING ON STAYING OVER AT A MOTEL IN OR AROUND HAGERSTOWN, MD. I'VE PULLED UP SEVERAL MOTELS ON DUAL HIGHWAY IN HAGERSTOWN THAT WILL WORK FOR US. QUESTION I HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THAT AREA, IS THIS AREA RELATIVELY GOOD, SAFE PLACE, OR ARE THERE DRIVE BY SHOOTINGS GOING ON ALL THE TIME?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

As long as you're outside, pretty well outside (like Hagerstown) of DC, you'll be as safe as anywhere. Just park in a lighted place at the motel, you might inquire about parking without having to unhook. Have a good trip!

Tom, there's 30 copies of the complete list mailed Priority mail to you yesterday. Look under the colum Parking in Field and you'll see who they are.
They are Fran Sea, Valkyrie, Byrdman, Odd-a-C, and Sea-Esta.

Pat, as luck would have it we overnighted at the Hampton Inn in Hagerstown Thursday. That area is just fine, and all of the hotels along Dual Hwy seem alright.
Our driving time (moving fast, without a tow) was just over two hours to Chestertown, which is about 15-20 minutes from Rock Hall/Langford. With a tow it will take you longer, and the traffic through Annapolis and on the Bay Bridge is unpredictable. Friday afternoons tend to be bad due to traffic headed to the Atlantic beaches.
Looking forward to seeing everybody, and we've cleared the decks for any cruising Sunday-Tuesday. Now we're just counting down! _________________ John

Sorry to hear about your knee, Charlie. We were away for the week to Asbury Park-Ellis Island area of New Jersey.
We are arriving Thursday afternoon. Tom, we can assemble the name tags and get them ready like last year. May take you up on the concert Thursday night. We love the MAINSTAY.
We signed up for trailer parking in your lot. Doug even volunteered to help people back into their spots in your yard.
Charlie had us on the list for lot use but didn't name us in the last post.
I will again be just outside the Marina Office to greet C-Dorys and give you the weekend agenda. My favorite job.
Won't be long now.

Well, looks like we are as ready as we can be...
Y'll come, as they say.
Anne, i have you down for the field...no problem.
We will miss Charlie but will toast him often with Terry's various libations and more.
See you all in just a short time.

To all of our C-Dory Friends-
Although we won't be in attendance this year, we wish all a great time and safe travels. Perhaps we'll see you next year.
Cheers!

Pulling boat and putting on trailer on Monday. Depart Clarksville, TN area on Tuesday....sleep somewhere Tuesday night...to break the 750ish mile tow into a couple of parts....and arrive on Wednesday...afternoonish.... Looking forward to some local gigs...and seeing folks.
Charlie.... This is sad man. I am truly glad we got together in Seattle in Jan08. You will be missed....and if you need someone to just come get you, carry you around....and be your seeing eye bird...or dog... give a shout. Even if we have to put a patch on both eyes....we will help you dress...and that will be a pic for any gathering.
