Al,
He's got a 2003 CD25. The water tanks on those earlier 25s was in the bow, so his pump *may* be under the step. I agree though, on my 2007 CD25 the pump located under the step was the cabin bilge pump. _________________ -Sarge

Yes I have both the '2nd' bilge pump under the step and the water pump. If it's wet at these pumps, you're standing in water in the cabin! Fortunately haven't had that experience...
I like the water tank up under the V-berth bunk, keeps some of the weight forward. I even installed a hatch cover to view the water level (see my album). _________________ Steve & Carmen

Hi Steve,
I'm "visually challenged" this weekend, using the laptop PC. I thought your info showed 2008 CD-25, but if I squint I see it's 2003. I agree, the fwd mtg of the water tank is a good idea, keeping some wt fwd. Our sailboat, and many of them, had it that way, and provided "adjustable fore-aft trim", as it was something like 35-40 gal., in 27 ft boat. That boat sailed better with the tank full.
We're like many others, don't like the wet bilge and poorly sealing hatches. Lousy place for anything to live/be stored. _________________ Al & Pat

Hi All,
Yesterday I replaced the failed water pressure pump with the Jabsco "marine" Model #31395-0092. I mounted it on top of the battery shelf, which seems like a much better location. Everthing seems to be working well. I hope this is a long term solution. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!
While I was at it I cleaned out the bilge area as best as possible (it seems like a science project down there)? I drilled a couple of holes in the battery shelves so they could drain into the bilge as they also were holding a little water. Any recommnedations as to how I can keep the bilge area relatively clean and possibly dryer would be appreciated.

Some of you know I posted on how the freshwater pump gave up the ghost on 'Au Kai. Seems to be a common theme with 2007's. And yes, everyone was correct on using a Jabsco one for replacement. The quote on the manufacturer sticker: "FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS REPLACE WITH 31395-0092".
So...I contacted Matt @ Kitsap Marina asking what he could do since it's technically a Fluid Marine "non-warranty warranty" boat. He called me back this afternoon. He/they will make good and replace the pump. Good to know he's willing to take care of his customers. Now when I need a kicker, or 2.5 horse for a dinghy etc...I know Matt and Kitsap Marine will be my source. Good dealer support is hard to come by... _________________ "We can go over there...behind the 'little one'....."

Ain't good dealers great? Carrie and Gene at Mobile East Marine, here in Eastern NC, did the same for me twice in our CD-25. The first time was definitely under warranty, the 2nd maybe thru Jabsco. I can't figure why C-Dory didn't use the marine rated pump in the first place. But I had one of those seize up on me, too. |

Anyone know if there will be an issue using the 1.9 GPM Jabsco vs the 2.9 GPM one recommended on the sticker? (Matt sent me the 31295-0092 not the 31395-0092)
Mind you, we're heading out for the Bellingham CBGT on Friday morning and we NEED H20 on board. I just wanna know if I need to get down to Fisheries and exchange it, if possible. |

It'll work fine , it will be a more conservative flow rate. Important on the boat with limited H2O supply.

Thanks. Anyone can make a mistake with a digit. Due to the time constraints with the trip, I'm gonna install it and see how the flow is and if The Admiral is happy with it or not. |

I have a Flo-Jet water pump on my 2006 25' Cruiser, located aft port. The system seems to have a lot of air in it, and I don't know how to get it out. The water flow is very uneven. Any ideas how to get it running right, or is this the time to replace the water pump with Jabsco "marine" Model #31395-0092? Will that take much refitting, rewiring, etc by a non-mechanic/non-plumber owner (and don't you dare say that a non-mechanic/non-plumber shouldn't own a boat!)? |

No big deal - and we're glad you own a boat! The other Jabsco (assuming it is the same unit, only "marinized" should be a matter of clipping wires, crimping wires, mounting it, and hooking the hoses up (click in place).
It appears that our latest pump is about to give up the ghost (running intermittently, what it did the last 3 times it had to be replaced). This one lasted about 3 years (I guess I should be happy about that); on the bright side: we brought a replacement pump with us.
It's a boat. In the words of the philosopher Rosanna Rosannadanna: it just goes to show you, it's always something.
