Suzuki makes a great motor, so as far as that goes I wouldn't strees too much. The weight thing is something to ponder. I have the Suzuki 115 on mine( put on by factory) and a 9.9 kicker and I think my boat still handles well( have trim tabs). I have driven Tom's boat with the standard issue honda 90 and honestly can say I don't notice a huge difference, except that the 115 has more power and speed if you need it. The factory did bump up the size of the motor to 115 but I don't know if they ever changed the sticker for it. I know mine still said max HP 100. ANd I regularly run at 30-35 MPH if conditions allow.

My boat has a Suzuki DF115 and a 9.9 Kicker. The factory told me that it was more a weight issue than the HP. They said they just haven't updated the placard. But like Bob said it is not required for boats over 20 feet. So my boat doesn't have a placard, the factory left it off. I talked to one other person that had his inspected by the coast guard and was OK. My insurance company said everything was OK as well. I use my boat above 6000 feet most of the time. That is why I wanted the extra HP. The boat handles very nice. I do have trim tabs and a permatrim. _________________ Jody Kidd
