I used to live in Hudson, FL, and I have taken 21' & 23' center-consoles, and kayaks up & down the Weeki Wachee River (maybe 25 times).
Unless I'm missing something, I'm curious why you're calling it "Intracoastal" since I fail to see the connection between Intracoastal & the Weeki Wachee River? I've never heard of Intracoastal employed in this manner. The Weeki Wachee River is a river which flows from Weeki Wachee Springs (an underground limestone cavernous labyrinth - probably connected in the subterranean with the Homassasa River). Curious as to why have you designated it as Intracoastal? |
Most boats bypass the Weeki Wachee, Bayport, Crystal River, Inglis, etc., etc., etc. and I'm showing people who will take the time on the GL how to get into and navigate them. Nothing more than that. I've been taking boats up and down them for 40+ years on a private and commercial basis.

Having been up the Intracoastal in a sailboat with a 6' draft, I maintain that a C-Dory is the perfect boat in which to do the trip.
Thanks for the side trips, which we weren't able to do.

You're quite welcome. In a perfect world, one would have a livaboard barge, with a C-Dory on davits available whenever a river came into range for exploration. Life isn't perfect, but the C-Dory at least makes a lot of those trips possible (and the big one too).
Something completely different:

Thanks for many hours of enjoyment over the last couple of years. I have watched most of the video, at least once. OK with the music, enjoy the scenery, and skipped most of the hog hunting , but enjoyed every minute and glad to see your recovery. I have 2 very good friends who had strokes before 45 years old. Good recovery in both cases, but both have some vision loss. Keep up the great filming, and posting.
Harvey

Thanks Harvey, it is nice to get an "attaboy" every once in awhile.
Forgot to mention one of the C-Brats is on "Mischief XIII" - we both anchored behind some spoil islands and hailed them in the morning when underway. |

Reminds me of the decent redfish I've caught around the confluence of the Salt River & Crystal River. I lived in Hudson for ~5years and made runs from Crystal River, Ginnie Springs, Hernando through Hudson, New Port Richey, out to Anclote and down to Clearwater and back night and day. Wow, haven't been on the Gulf of Mexico fishing in over 15 years. Thanks! |

A tough time catching them now, we've had an 80% fish kill up and down the coast. The 26 degree temps killed them by the millions (even the catfish died and I thought nothing could kill them). On our way back from Crystal River we didn't see any fish on the scope at all. Will take some time to sort things out fish-wise. |

Well the day has finally come. With the new trawler purchase, C-Dawg-E is simply sitting more and more, and that's not fair to a boat that brought us so many fine adventures and kept us safe and dry. I'm putting it up for sale. Everything is the same as in the movies you've seen. The Wallas (stove) is making the whirring noise they say it makes when time to send it in, so it's out of the boat in a box now and I'm sending it in. That's the only change in looks and that will be the same when we (or you) get it back. We'll be sad to see our friend go, but glad to know it's off to more adventures. $35,500 flagold@gate.net |

Well, judging from the emails, I really should have put an equipment list on that last message (sorry about that):
Here is what C-Dawg-E has:
EZ Loader dual axle trailer
Fortress Anchor
Dual Windshield Wipers
RayMarine 24 Mile Radar with multi target tracking
RayMarine C-70 Integrated GPS
Humminbird Matrix 97 GPS (full U.S.) Fishing System (Depth)
Standard Horizon Eclipse VHF
King Full Canopy (Camper Canvas)
Trolling Rod Holder
Swim Ladder
2 battery system (house/start) w/Perko Off/1/2/Both Switch
Extra Bilge Pump (luckily never needed)
Wallas diesel stove/heater
Water/Sink/Tank
Integrated Cabin Bug Screens
Norcold Refigerator Freezer
Full lighted engine instrumentation
Dual 25 gal tanks + 12 gallon Atwood (used for local trips)
90 HP Mercury 2005 very low hours looks virtually new in and out - I swapped out the 2003 originally on it for the trips for a second one I had stored (pickled).
SS Prop
Best of luck in your search for the perfect C-Dory that fits you and yours. |
