Colby,
Just as we cut across the NW corner of Whisky Gulf military training area near Balenas Islands, there was a Securite Notice from the Coast Guard that the area was closed and training was to begin once two small craft left the area near Balenas Islands, that would have been us. Whisky Gulf is used for torpedo training and I think being in shallow draft C-Dorys we would likely have been safe should a torpedo come out way.
Sorry about the ice cream comments. But here is an idea. Get a bigger freezer and sell overpriced Ice cream cones at Chatterbox Falls. You probably could pay for your fuel with the profits.

Jay, glad to hear about Jolee's surgery and it being successful. Enjoy your land travel up to Skagway, and then the water portion as well. Sure wish I could talk Rosanne into joining me on the Inside Passage, but until that happens, chances are low I'd make another trip up there. Colby |

Ok, I found our track. It's the green line. And looks like we actually cut a bit through the SW corner, lol. (I have the corners of the warning area marked on my charts as WG_) You can also see where I headed the wrong way after we passed Texada Island. It had been kind of rough, and for some reason I was thinking I needed to make a slight right bend for the channel entrance towards PLI. I got my sights set on the island and inlet ahead of me then, and almost got there before realizing I should have just continued straight. lol.
I like that idea about the ice cream cones. No need for a bigger freezer though. I just won't fill it with the other stuff, like frozen meats. lol

Please count Kerry and I in on the Princess Lousia cruise. We have boated the area some time ago when we owned the Boston Whaler Conquest. We took the ferry across to the Sunshine Coast and launched out of Earls cove, it was a great trip. _________________ previuos vessels

Hi Rick. Glad to see that you and Kerry are signed up for the Friday Harbor gathering and that you have interest in the PLI trip afterward. I have a feeling that most folks will break into small groups for travel to PLI. Telephone reporting sites are Bedwell Harbour and Nanaimo. Colleen and I have NEXUS Marine and there is a possibility that we will check in at Ganges, get provisions and continue north. Ganges is not a telephone reporting site. The links below show reporting stations for telephone reporting sites and for those enrolled as NEXUS Marine members. Gary

Gary, just curious what's involved in enrolling in Nexus, and why did you chose to do so? (I could google what's involved, but just being lazy. lol) Colby
Ok, never mind on what's involved. I ended up looking it up. I'm too cheap to pay the enrollment fee. The phone call at Bedwell has worked out well, and then I use the CBP roam for returning.

We chose Nexus because you do not need to tie up to the dock and use the phone on the wall to check in. There are also many more locations where check in is allowed. You give your estimated time of arrival, purpose of the trip, and length of stay. You need to arrive at the reporting station before your declared ETA and wait until that time has lapsed. If no officer is present at the reporting station at that time, you are free to go.
It also gives you trusted traveler status when flying. Listed below are some of the benefits from the web that also apply when you fly.
Benefits also apply to TSA PreCheck
"Expedited security screening
Shorter lines
Faster processing times
Keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on
Don't need to remove laptops or compliant liquids from carry-on bags
Benefits of NEXUS
Expedited processing between the U.S. and Canada
Can use the Nexus card in place of a passport when traveling between the U.S. and Canada
Includes Global Entry benefits at no additional cost"
We have started our second 5 year term with the Nexus Marine program and like it. Gary |

I'm working to clear my schedule and attend the Friday Harbor gathering and join in on the PLI cruise. I appreciate all the information from the seasoned boaters into Canada as this will be my first trip with my C-Dory. A special thanks for the info in traveling with a dog as I plan on traveling with my first mate, Tango. _________________ "Believe me my young friend, there is nothing-absolutely nothing-half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats."

I would also like to join in on your trip to PLI after the get together at Friday Harbor.
I will be traveling with a friend and my little Dog "IGGY".
We plan to head for Alaska at a slow cruise for 2 - 3 months after PLI.
