Having practised immigration legal administrative work(I didn’t defend people before the courts) always check both your passport expiry date and entry requirements 3 months and 3 days before entering a country. Immigration regulations can be changed quickly and how they are administered even quicker, as we have seen over the last two years.

We have had a similar government confidence agreement at the provincial level in BC up until the last election and and it went fine. Basically it’s a handshake deal if you vote for x (usually budgets) and x (key pieces of legislation) we’ll also vote for and support x bills that are the smaller parties priority, if not in a minority government the majority can vote down a budget bill at which point an election will be called(most likely). These are just handshake agreements so ours was broken when the larger party believed it could win, and it did. I’m not a fan of any political party but most politicians are trying to do the best for their constituents, even the narcissist since they want to get re elected. The most important thing are the bureaucrats that get the work done or don’t!

The facebook gulf island and PNW boating Facebook groups are likely the best source for up to date boating boarder crossing information.

So glad to have our cousins to the south, and my family down south, coming and visiting.

Anyone PM me or tag me in posts if you are making the trip on the west coast. Happy to connect, share knowledge and fishing tips or do buddy boat trips, if I have time.

robhwa your comments are way good. Thanks for sharing. I grew up in Canada, and am really looking forward to getting back.

Politics. I kind of have one rule. If I didn't vote, I have no right to complain -- period.

If I did vote and don't like the results, be sure and vote next time. And tell your friends to do the same.

Kaelc, I'll take you up on a meeting when I get to get up there. Fish and Chips at Fish on Fifth, Sidney just north off Beacon Ave.

Very Happy Very Happy Embarassed Mine are always at Fish on Fifth. NO Anchor F&C as that would mean catching and cooking on board --> two things I am very much not capable of. Laughing

BTW - if you are visiting CA this summer in Vancouver area, be aware that rental cars are extremely limited in supply and quite expensive. Even renting off airport is difficult and limited. Not sure of the reasons, but we did change our plans and are now driving across vs flying.

I don't believe CA requires the booster yet...

Happy April 1st everyone.

Tom, you are not alone. There are many thousands of U.S. boaters who have not taken the jab. Boat travel in Canada may not happen this year for many but with that comes the opportunity to explore local waters more thoroughly.

Gotta agree with you on that one.... Wink Wink Laughing Laughing

I plan to spend a lot of time in Canada this summer. I'm a bit afraid that latent demand is going to make it crowded up there. For the first time, I'm grateful to the non-vaxxers Wink.

It's not true that the border is closed to anyone not vaccinated. And that's not what I think, that's just a fact.

johnr,

In all due respect, can you please show us a link that states otherwise? From what I have read recently; those wishing to travel into Canadian via personal watercraft from another Country must show that they are fully vaccinated when reporting to Canadian Customs. I would love to be proven wrong on this! Thank you. Smile Gary

quote: ArriveCAN is mandatory for all travellers
Travellers arriving by marine mode are required to submit their mandatory information including their proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN before or when entering Canada.

Starcraftom wrote that "Canada is still closed to anyone that is not full vaccinated." That is not true. You can cross for work, compassionate travel (to care for a sick one, for example), and other purposes too. As far as I know, if you want to cross for play and you are not vaxxed then, as of this writing, you are SOL Here's the best link I know of right now.

I'm up here in Bellingham and it's the first day that the border is more or less open to vaccinated travelers. The Costco here in town is madness right now, packed with Canadians. Apparently there was no food in Canada during the covids.
