Wow, that's a mighty fine funnel setup.... and I will try engineering one...
In my shop I found a General Morons vacuum pump from one of their diesel attempts for diesel cars.... now, I am going to mount a motor I took out of a bakery blender.... and make a High Performance Vacuum Device (HPVD) I think I will modify a 5 gallon paint bucket as the High Performance Liquid
Collection Device....(HPLCD)

Same problem with my Suzuki. The milk jug fix is so simple and works so well. My Suzuki doesn't have the recessed plug like the Hondas but I use a 3" piece of duct tape across the top of the jug and tape it right under the drain hole. You don't even have to hold it. Quick, cheap, and easy. _________________ I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR - That's what makes the search so exciting! |

That milk jug is a great idea! And looks incredably effective. Guess I'll have to buy a gallon of milk just to get the jug. Ellen will be glad to know I have this so I can quit 'cussing as I clean up the mess. Have you tried it when you change oil in the lower unit?

No matter how many times I have changed lower unit fluid, I still manage to loose a big puddle of it. Let me get this right, you use the left hand to hold the bottle spout into the lower port, while crushing it, trying to wring the necessary amount into the lower unit. With the right hand (usually oily by this time) you try to thread the plug into the upper port and tighten it, while still holding the smushed bottle against the lower port. Then you drop the bottle and grab the other screw and attempt to thread it into the lower port as fluid dribbles out of it.
WHAT!!!!!!!
I just bought a kit at Academy Sports, that is suppose to make it easy. At $8.00, it includes a small hand pump that screws into the fluid bottle and the lower unit of OMC motors, with an adapter for Yamahas (hope it fits my Suzuki). I figure for $8.00 what can I loose. I spill that much lube every change out.
Anyone have a better way, please let us all know. |
