thanks 1Tuberider for the tip on the 2500.
I live in the small seaside town of Sidney, BC. I wonder whether the local authorities would mind if I towed the boat to the ramp with a Kubota tractor? It would sure get all the car traffic out of the way in a hurry. |

For the 22 there are a large number of vehicles you can use. We towed ours some with a Honda Pilot--and a little with a Road Trek Class B (but that was a one ton chassis--however loaded with the interior of the van--such as head, galley and king size bed. I have also used plane van in the 1/2 ton size. The pick up trucks ride too stiffly for my back, plus I like to be able to lock gear in the truck when I am off in the boat. I currently have an Yukon XL 4 x 4 with the heavy duty tow package. Don't know the 22 is back there. Rides very well and I can even lie down in the back and take a nap while Marie drives. (even with boat gear). It would also easily tow a 25, although the Tom Cat (10,000 lbs) would be a bit more than I would want to tackle. There were times in my life when I owned both a sports car and a van conversion for camping--so don't rule out a nicely used simple van, and keep the sports car. _________________ Bob Austin

If you want a nice vehicle to tow with you might consider a Volkswagen Touareg. They have a diesel version that is supposedly rated to tow 7700 pounds as friend who has one reported. I have ridden in it and it a fine car. No trace of telltale diesel noise and no smell. A little pricey. Fuel mileage is 19 around town 28 highway.

Thanx Thataway. I'll check into Honda Pilots. I love the Hondas. I appreciate your comment about simple van + sports car. That may be the best way for me to go as I'd hate to give up my little roadster. |

I thought the same thing when I read that quote! inspirational!
Now I need to figure out how to pay my bills fishing and drinking beer. I love those things....oh and watching football too
I can actually contribute productively. I tow our 22 around with a 1-ton diesel pickup. Suspension is tough and bouncy, its uncomfortable and doesnt have any space to stow things inside. In truth, it's only use is towing the boat or taking loads to the garbage dump. Otherwise I prefer to drive a sedan. It does tow wonderfully, and gets reasonibly good mileage towing. I love it for what it is.
If I was only going to have one mult-use vehicle, it would most definately not be a fullsize 1 ton diesel like I have now. Maybe a cherokee like dustin's or a vw toureg. That's my $ .02 |

"A-plomb" implies "a natural affinity for"; like a duck to water.

Thanks Lorelei. Good point. I think a truck wouldn't be the best choice for me - a van or SUV of some sort sounds best so far. |

You should sell Toyota your secret for getting 60-65MPG out of a 4Runner. Then you could retire and have plenty of time for boating. |

Dodge is going to hit the streets real soon with a half ton diesel truck. Would think that it would make a heck of a tow rig for a CD 22. Have seen some of the specs on it, but the tow weights was not one of them. But what I did see I liked. _________________ Chuck
